I don't think Palin was picked just to get women voters. I think she's there more to get the evangelical vote.

And they're the ones who wanted huckabee. Hah.

"Putting lipstick on a pig" is a metaphor... It wasn't even directed toward Palin. It was directed toward McCain trying to sway public attention away from his policies, which are similar to Bush's, and to a pretty face.

It really doesn't matter what he was directing it at, it is how a comment like that would be perceived. If McCain said, "you could put a pig in a pantsuit....."

Which disastrous policies are the same, and how are Obama's different?

That is politics my friend, and don't think for a minute that there is any difference on the other side. For Obama to make a statement like that, he is clearly not a chess player. Shame on him.

I think she was picked because she is a lot of things that McCain is not. And you have to admit, she does appeal to a large demographic. It was a smart move strategicall, whether or not the decision was made for the good of the country will remain to be seen.

I think that pissed-off Hillary supporters and people who find a reference to lipstick as an insult will not vote for a President who will appoint judges that will overturn Roe v. Wade.
I think that they will also (with help from others if nessesary) remember 2000 and not stay away and not vote third party.

And if they do stay away and not vote, the Republicans will win again. An election that many said would be a long shot for them. I hate voting by party, but that seems to be the only option I have at the moment. At the moment I am tending democrat.

I think McCain picking Palin is the most cynical choice possible.

He's hoping that disenfranchised women who supported Hillary Clinton will vote for her ideological opposite because she like them and Hillary, has a vagina.

I wouldn't be saying this if McCain picked some of the qualified Republican women... Like Olympia Snow, Kay Bailey Hutchison, Jodi Rell... All smart and qualified women. I'm not really fond of Hutchison but she's qualified.

I believe the McCain campaign is hoping that there are some really stupid women voters. He had to do something to excite the ticket. There aren't really that many people who are in love with McCain. He's the person the GOP though was most likely to defeat Clinton.

As far as Obama needing white women? I don't really care for overanalyzing demographics like a CNN croney. There the largest voting bloc. Everyone needs them.
