..so ill say it again =] i think like other new dreadies im feeling so down about them,, im actually considering washing them out next month to start them again next year or something.. my dreadies are 6 months old,, done by backcombing and wax (yeah,, i know, wax is bad), i use knottyboy shampoo but im not using the wax anymore, i hate the feel of it but my dreads are superly gunked up (its bad when you know you can bend yer dreads into any shape and they stay like it cause of the wax buildup) but i would like to say that ive been readin through a lot of posts on here today, and my perception of my own dreads has changed.. last night i had my heart set on getting rid of them and today im feeling like this is all normal and i can make them better some way or another,, so thanks for writing all the stuff and whatever, its made me feel a whole lot better =] a few of my dreads by the nape of my neck are really loose, i think im to blame for that, but what would you suggest to sort them? cause i backcombed them (oops) and about 3 inches of hair went byebye, and as much as i hate the wax i find its good in small quants to keep the hair together (not tightly). im scared to wash my hair cause i dont want these loose ones to wash out =/ (i normally wash them once a week) so yeah,, anymore help, advice, hints etc would be quite useful (and sorry for being repetitive in the thread posting) x
Man, I'm going/I went through this, just hold tight, use the wax removal thread and dont be an idiot like me and cut out the wax! Put tights over your hair and wash them if your that worried about it man, use the deep clense to get rid of buildup Alex
wax removal 1st and foremost and stop using that entirely backcombing seems to often lewad to frustratiion my advice for what its wiorth get them ungunked and leave them be stop worrying wbhen they ar gunkless they will dreasd fine on theyre own i did look, it seemsthe hairs pretty glued together and lil bit dammaged (did u backcomb more then once?) but salvagable ond noty really that bad when they get clean there maybe a lil biut of unraveling thats ok though they will dread fine when theyre free to move it may seem like a step backwards to do something thsat may or may not unravel some but really ts a step forwarsd siunce the buildip is preventing tight dreads from forming and keeping them fragile and barely together with just wax not knots keeouing them formed but once theyre clean you will see an improvement soon enough while youir at it go to the dread/knoty scam thread send back ther wax and post a myspace buliten to move forward in your dread hourny..when theyre waxless, stop worrying bout em, they will take care ofthemselves i can see you put a ton of work into them..how many hours? 40-100 in a few months just to get the tips that way? i see why your frustrated frustration vannishes when u abandon the desire to control the uncontrollable peocess allow the dreads tp follow theyree course withou the influence of extra worek,,when u do nothing u have no reason to be frustrated, only fascinated as you watch the,mm create a world of wild beautiful and ubnique dreads i added u on myspace.. always here to help hug
yeahh,, i saw the anti KBoy thread, but tbh i havent got much wax left to send back, i wont use it now anyway. the blonde dreads are defo defo more damaged than the brown ones, i reckon thats cause of the bleaching process (i had 9% and then 12% peroxide on it to get it that light),, i do prefer my brown side really and i did the whole tights-over-my-hair thing, i looked funny =] ill give em a wash next week, see what happens, but i defo dont feel like getting rid of them anymore. weird how things change. cheers for the advice though,, superly useful =]
ygh u used the whoile thing of wax? whosa ok send back the empty container with the letter we put together and post that as a buliten on myspace i would suggest not waiting till next week to wash them, instead id go buy what u neredf to remove the wax.. trust me when its gone they will look and feel a millio9n times better if u usedthat much wax..u may have to do a couple treatments, so do 1 asap and anothe a few days later.. u may want to continue doing dewaxing a few weeks till your fairly sure its allk goine but right from the start just getting some out wull help yopu so much anddu will feel much better to repair the dammage from bleaching lets get li creative here.. after th dewax.., follow with a lil apple cfidar vinagar (2 capfulls about should be fine) a good lil dose of aloe gel (1000% oure froim refridgerated section off health food stires) 2 viutamin e casules cut open into it..or alteratekly uif u can get ut in liquid foem aboyut 1/4 teaspoon or kess.. u dont need alot if u have it handy.. 15 or so drops of joijoba oil ..if not thats ok rince with that leavin it in 10 min or so anbd rince out u may wanna wait tjho till afyerr a few dewazxings 4 2 reasonbs.. wax may hold in the vinagar smell and the dewaxing alone makes hair very soft thiswill only add to the softness u can also use cocoa butter if u wanrt but..dewaxing should be top priority
youre assuming i have lots of money to just run out and buy this stuff,, i dont. nor do i have the time until monday to do it, so its ganna have to wait until then at least, but it will get done.
i know im srrt most is cheap and will last ya a good long time though canty wait to see how much betterthey are aftrr
What Soaring Eagle has described won't cost you more than ten quid, man. Have you got a picture that you could post?
seems everyone makes mistakes at first, i did too (i've had 2 sets) and the first time i did NO research, i was just sitting there and decided i wanted dreads, and 5 minutes later i was in the bathroom infront of the mirror trying to figure it out myself. i twisted them and blasted them with tons of hairspray. i washed them, they completely fell out. the 2nd time wasnt better either, but then i did some research and got misinformed, then later i found this site and i took alot of good advice, and now things are going well and i'm at peace with my dreads
