So I found these two chairs at an antique shop on sale for 25 bucks, for both. I thought they had lots of potential with their yummy, solid, walnutty goodness (I do wood).I sanded one of them last night and added a mahogany stain and some Amy Butler upholstry fabric.I traced the chairs on the internet to alemeda California, made 1960ish, so I tried to pick a fabric and stain according to the era. They're not really my style. I am going to email my mom a pic and hope she likes them so I can give them to her.I just thought they were kinda weird chairs and that I would post. The before is in the striped, dirty fabric and mine is in the olivey green. I just can't tell if I love them or hate them. They are complex and I am stoned.
me too! I got an art deco era chair I still need to refinish. The wood has geometric cut-outs in it and I am going to stain it black and cover the seat with theis fabric.http://www.freespiritfabric.com/core-pages/gallery.php?gal_id=142&sw_id=1593
It's really good work, don't get me wrong. I don't know. I like it fine, but I'm with you when you say that it might be worth giving to someone else.
Yeah, sorry if I was defensive. It is just so much work to refinish stuff, especially doing a stain instead of paint, so it hurt my feelings a bit.
I think you should find a sexy antique art deco bench for the end of your bed and go from there. That seems your style...and mine, now I wanna go antique shopping ):, but I have too much stuff waiting to be done in the garge.
Thank you! I feel tons better now. I think you guys all have awesome styles, so that totally took away my chair induced low-selfesteem
eh, not everything is gonna turn out to be amazing in your own eyes. SOmetimes it takes a bit of getting used to or having people pat you on the back.
Quite cute. I don't think I could pull 'em off in my abode...you know, the feng shui thing. I try to sit as close to the ground as possible.
