I need some new 'phones

up until now, i have owned a pair of skullcandy ink'd earbuds, which i have enjoyed immensely. however, i have desired proper headphones so that i could get the full effect around my ear, rather than the earbuds, which irritate after a while.

Obviously, my first target was the Skullcandy brand, or specifically the G.I. headphones. after reading many conflicting reviews, i went directly to bestbuy to get em.

I picked up both the skullcandy GI and a sony MDR-XD100 to compare vastly different styles.

The skullcandy delivered the impressive bass and depth i am used to, while the sony lacked bass but made up with superior clarity at higher levels. While the skullcandy crushed my skull, Sony had the grip of an infant.

Both lacked what i considered the most important aspect, noise reduction.
Even at regular listening volumes, the noise is very noticable to people several feet away with both sets.

I plan to return both, but want to know if anyone here has suggestions for a sub-80$ pair that will provide crystal clear sound, gut-wrenching bass, complete noise isolation, comfort, and will still look totally bad-ass?

 

I bought some $6 headphones at tjmaxx that had everything you're looking for. All I remember is that they came in a green package. They're black and silver.

 

Get some stable earclips at best buy.


get the extended warrenty for em at like $3


and you wont have to pay for headphones for a year.


You just send them in when they break, and they send you a gift card for the original price.

 

you're looking for a bose quiet comfort. they may be expensive but there's some deals on ebay or amazon.

 

I know that you said that you don't like but if you want quality sound and minimal discomfort try skullcandy's Full metal jacket earbuds. They are cheaper , more durable and are the most comfortable subs that I have ever owned, it took an entire year for me to break those things and my stuff isn't gently treated by any means.

they always fell out of my ears while running, anyone have experience running with the skullcandy buds?

 

I wear the skull candy at work and am constantly pushing them back in my ears....

well i currently have the ink'd buds (cheaper than the full metals), so obviously they are an upgrade, but im looking for full-size phones with the biggest, thickest padding and best sound. If it can pump out bass mekanic one minute, then perfectly recreate a pink floyd concert the next, thats what i want.

as for the ink'ds, I have no trouble keeping them in my ears. In fact, by cocking them on a certain angle so that the entire bud is actually in the ear at about a 40 degree angle you i get more bass recognition and they wont budge unless i snag the cord while listening. (hurts having earbuds pulled out because of a door handle or desk corner)

 

Yup, a little pricey but I have the QC2 and its fucking amazing.

 

Get the ones that you got but get the mdr xd 300's or anything above 300 and you wont be dissapointed, thats what I use when I play my guitar. Perfect sound.

 

Speaking as someone who works retail at a major electronics store, i hate people who buy expensive shit only planning to return it. And where I work we dont take refunds on headphones. Its in the Canadian Health act that once theyve hit your ears theyre yours.

i got the qc3 for my bday. they wouldn't tell me how much they were. so i looked it up on the internet and they go for 365 in stores. ridiculous imo, but they are the best headphones i ever used.

go into an bose or apple store and check out all the bose headphones. theyre so amazing. but you better have a decent amount of money. you probably know theyre super clear and noise reduction is superb.

 

well i bought them at a canadian bestbuy, specifically asked the return period (30 days) and there is nothing about being unable to return headphones in the receipt.

if they dont take them back, screw them. lol.

Obviously bose are the best, but one of my requirements is sub-50$, 80$ if its gonna get me insta-laid out of coolness factor, while bringing me to orgasm through sound quality ;p

these are fantastic, excellent bass, actually rattles your head, excellent mids and high's, out perform most speakers. also VERY comfortable and noise canceling
