I almost feel sorry for McMummy sometimes. He seems to move about like the Energizer Bunny on a dead battery or some zombie from NOTLD. BUT, then he gives us that creepy smile and blinks in slow motion and says something so conceited, hateful or insane that you think it's a joke. Then you realize that yeah... it IS a joke. He is a joke. THEN, out of the wild frontier comes this little right-wing nutcase bitch (she compared herself to a dog, remember?). She does nothing but insult Obama and the media fawns over her like she's the Second Coming of Christ, ejaculating praise and glory for .... what? She's a fucking smartass. Hell, if smartasses qualify for President, I'll run. Sarah Palin is a goddamn joke. A right-wing fascist wrapped in her Pseudo-Christian conservative horseshit garb and the media stroke their little twig n' berries everytime she takes a shit. Now McCorpse is ahead? Because the media jerks off on this lousy She-Hitler? Oh wait...Hitler actually had SOME intelligence. This bitch thinks that "Under God" was put in the original Pledge by our Founding Fathers. Way to go, America... WAAAVE THAT FLAAAAGG... WAVE IT WIDE & HIGH... We're fucked.
Its funny how you type that angry post yet you conveniently forget what Obama said yesterday: “When I am president, we will wage the war that has to be won, with a comprehensive strategy with five elements: getting out of Iraq and on the right battlefield in Afghanistan and Pakistan; developing the capabilities and partnerships we need to take out the terrorists and the world's most deadly weapons; engaging the world to dry up support for terror and extremism; restoring our values; and securing a more resilient homeland." Obama says things we all want to hear- "we are in more danger now than before 9/11" "The President would have us believe that every bomb in Baghdad is part of al Qaeda's war against us, not an Iraqi civil war" "He elevates al Qaeda in Iraq — which didn't exist before our invasion — and overlooks the people who hit us on 9/11, who are training recruits in Pakistan." This is all true and has been said for a long time before Obama even considered running for president. He says all of this.... he denounces Iraq as a total failure in all ways... it wasn't planned well, and it wasn't fought well. Who doesn't love this anti Iraq sentiment? You would be hard pressed to find many Americans that don't share this same sentiment. They are tired of this war, and Obama knows it- he will play the card throughout the campaign. ....And then he says this: "There are terrorists holed up in those mountains who murdered 3,000 Americans. They are plotting to strike again" "It was a terrible mistake to fail to act when we had a chance to take out an al Qaeda leadership meeting in 2005. If we have actionable intelligence about high-value terrorist targets, and President Musharraf won't act, we will." Doesn't this sound familiar? Haven't we all heard this rhetoric before? Guys.... WAKE UP!!!!!!!!!! Can't you see what's happening here????????? Don't you remember when Bush was touting THE EXACT SAME RHETORIC right before the invasion of IRAQ???????? Be very afraid. They are planning to strike again. They will strike again. Revenge for 9/11. Haven't we heard ALL OF THIS before?!?!?! I digress..... Maybe if Obama had read the 9/11 Commission Report, he might understand why the terrorists attacked us in the first place. They attacked us because of our government's own interventionist actions in the middle east. Sure.... of course there are Islamofascists...there is al Qaeda..... Sure, there are some who hate America---- But, you see, these groups have very little influence or footing in the Middle East without our actions to back their claims. It happened in Iraq- we invaded Iraq in an illegal war- we destroyed their cities, we caused the collapse of their government and infrastructure- and we are doing a horrible job in restructuring the government. What happens????? Thousands join the almost extinct al Qaeda organization. What would you do if say, China did to America what we did in Iraq/ Afghanistan? we would be angry and we would want revenge. That is completely understandable, isn't it????? This is called Blowback. Maybe if Obama had read the 9/11 Commission Report, he would understand the concept of Blowback and he might understand why they attacked us in the first place. Fighting another preemptive war in Afghanistan is just making a bad problem worse. The people in Afghanistan grow angry of our actions in their country, and the radical anti- America organizations actually gain a footing and flourish. If Obama truly wants to prevent another 9/11, a much better path would be to pull out of the Middle East, and instead of spreading influence with policing the world and preemptive war, begin spreading influence with diplomacy, trade, good will, and making a good example of ourselves for the rest of the world to follow. Both Obama and McCain are warmongers for an enormous foreign policy- more nation building, more policing the world, more interventionism= bigger government, more bureaucracy, and higher taxes with no end in sight. Both are very much in favor of a continuation of America's large presence in the Middle East. Obama uses anti- Iraq war sentiment to push his war in Afghanistan. McCain uses the arguments of "finishing the job" and restoring American honor for continuing the war. Our country can no longer afford this path- a path that does not change based on who wins in November. They are two corrupted men who bicker with each other on mundane technicalities and moralities, but in the bigger picture, they couldn't agree more. Both talk of progress, change, and honor, yet with a bit more investigation, they are firmly in favor of the status quo. Both talk in sound bites and in pre-rehearsed slogans- a whole lot of talk about a whole lot of nothing. Now you tell me how one is better than the other. Tell me Don't think for an instant that we aren't fucked no matter who wins in November. And don't give me the Palin bullshit. Obama could have had Hillary as his VP and could of had all of her supporters in his back pocket. He didn't do that and he may have made a mistake by doing so. If you want to be mad about the McCain strategy of picking Palin for the Hillary votes, then be angry with Obama, because he is the one that really messed up. I'm just throwing a little bit of moderation into this forum........ it clearly needs it. Like Libertine says himself- Think for yourself and question authority. Now I have two more- Read between the lines. Actions are always a better indicator of intention than words. :cheers2:
At least we can still move out of the country if it really gets bad. You can't outrun ICBMs, and the McCain/Palin camp has already threatened to start a war with Russia. Obama could make a huge difference (like he said, even a slight shift in national priorities would be quite a noticeable improvement), but the mainstream media will bomb him out of the race, and if not you can be sure he'll be assassinated. The Party has tasted true power. The power to raid the US Treasury of hundreds of billions in contracts, the power to put whole planeloads of US currency, totalling billions of dollars, and ship it, unaccounted for, to friends all over the world. Where the law is what they say it is, and the judges are who they say they are, and rights are what they decide to permit. Like a pit bull with a kitten in its jaws, it's not gonna let go now. They'll do whatever it takes to ensure that todays' single-party rule remains forever.
The latest on his weekly bullsh**: the ad that says we need change, and then suddenly declaring that in terms of economy, we're still good. Like a good date gone weird ... mixed signals.
both candidates only clamor to the beat of the US opinion polls... if the leading subject is change, then they say change this change that.... if it is the economy, the say economy this economy that.... and it goes on and on and on and on.... the only thing that doesn't change on a daily basis is the pattern of their actions..
I agree that Obama's strings are being pulled by most of the same corporate lobbyists that McCain's are, but I also agree with the subject line of this thread, and last I heard, McCain is actually slightly in the lead, which is frightening. Like Bush, McCain's PR campaign is based predominantly on lies, the strategy being that if they tell the same lie over and over again, the majority of the American people will believe it, and the really scary thing is, it works.
I'm not an American but all I see is both sides keep saying they are going to cause changes without ever really saying how or more importantly into what. IMO it is all hot air just like the politicans up here in Canada.
bingo. I wish there were more of you. Mellow Yellow, neither candidate is removed from lies.. they will both say whatever it takes to get your vote. They will each say a line of pre- rehearsed sound bites and rhetoric that best suits the audience they are standing in front of. You will hear one speech in New York City and another, completely different speech in the deep South. The general rule is that actions speak much louder than pre- rehearsed words.
McCain doesn't frighten me. What frightens me is that less than 25% of Americans actually vote. Nobody notices, nobody cares... apathy all around. THAT is what scares me. We continually allow our government to run amok, and eventually, it may come to the point where the only thing that will WAKE THIS COUNTRY UP is the realization that the government has already taken our rights from us. If it comes to that point... than we have no one to blame other than ourselves.
It may have already reached that point, and I don't see anyone waking up, or very few. Not voting only does one thing...silences your voice. Or in the case of McCain's voting record protects him from being accused of voting for or against anything. Sorry but that doesn't seem very heroic or brave to me. Can't be much of a maverick if you never go on the record by casting your vote. In most cases he didn't even bother to be present for the vote.
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ "Nothing will ever change if you don't do more tomorrow than what you did today." My old history professor said that to me a long time ago.
I didn't say they were, but it's a matter of degree. Palin is such a pathological liar she makes me wonder why she even bothers to make any statements at all when just about everything she says is lies. It's insulting. She'd do better if she just kept her mouth shut, yet the people will believe what they want to believe, it no longer seems to matter what is truth and what is lies. But hey, at least she's good lookin', right? On the other hand, a lot of folks are pissed off at Obama because he kept his cards close to his chest long enough to clench the nomination, and now we're seeing him for what he really is. I think we may see a record voter turnout this election, but it'll be interesting to see how many voters get turned away from the polls for arbitrary reasons (like not being rich enough or white enough or republican enough), and how those votes get tallied. And while I see voting as an obligatory duty, I can empathize with those who decide not to. The way the system is rigged we're forced to decide between bad and worse, while being fed the delusion of democracy.
