alright,, so some of you may know that my dreads were done by backcombing/twisting/waxing but i wanna know stuff some kid came up to me in town on saturday and was asking about my hair, and because id been reading on here i was saying how wax is bad, you should try and make them naturally, and he was asking me what youd use on them then, and i was like im not really sure,, so this is my question natural dreads.. whaddya do? backcomb maybe to start them and just leave them to tangle themselves? im also wondering this cause im ganna do the deep cleanse thingy soon, and im worried about the aftercare after ive done it, maybe cause i know close people around me hate my dreads, and if they were just left they will hate them more =]
were you at the artsfest? It was like dread central, my sister claimed to have spotted a redhead with dreads but I could not find her, much to my disappointment.
i was indeed at artsfest, it was amaazzzzzingg, and yea, it was a dread parade - think i saw about 30 people in total with dreads, it was great =D
Well people are never logical with their hate and disrespect. I say if you like em roll with it, who cares what they think. AS for the deep clean I don't really know what you're asking.... just deep clean it and feel nice and clean When people say natural dreads they usually mean either backcombing or twist and ripping using no products except a residue-free shampoo. Personally I sectioned mine off, backcombed them a bit then left them. I give them a roll every now and then between my fingers. what's this artsfest? x
i was just askin cause i didnt have a clue what to say to this kid who jumped on me =] artsfest is a free festival that birmingham city council put on every year over a weekend, its got local unsigned bands, and theatres, choirs, jazz, folk, displays, comedy things,, allsorts, and this years been a cracker, the levellers headlined! =D
I was actually starting on natural dreads cause I don't want to put stuff in my hair, but I ended up conditioning and brushing my hair. It wasn't working very well...ppl say that as long as there's 2 inches it'll tangle and dread, but myine isn't holding well.
i have a few shorts pieces of hair that ive just backcombed and left and not put wax on them, and theyre not holding well either really =[
natural dresds start better at abouit 4 inches but u can begin the pricess at 2 it just will be slow ytill it reaches 4 or more natural dreads basicly means not doing anything to force them no backcombing no twist n rip no wax cream no nothing but giving them time to form dreads will happen with no effort from yopu. natural dreads take timne and patience ..and they go through a longer messier period before becommi8ng real dreads..but the result isworth it to get natural dreads..keep hair clean free of residies and gunk never touch wax ort anything ']dont condition or comb weatting a wool hat helps beads also help \but only time really matyers backcombing and twuist n rop get fadter results somewhat..as lonmg as u avoid crap like wax n shit but u get a lil less natural looking result, with each dread being the same size sectioning being too even iuf u backcombor twist n rip then do nothing else like no palm rolling u can get a lil closer to a natural look over time the more u do to your dreads though the farther they go f5om natural natural= forming on theyre own without unnatural influences like backcombing or the application of gunk
mine were started on march 22nd 2008, so theyre about 6 months now, but theyre full of wax etc but i had a fringe when they were done, so i got short bits of hair stickin out everywhere, and i decided i make small dreads instead of let it combine with others, so i backcombed it a bit, but everytime i wash them, it all falls out
thats my problem. I make my own shampoo with no residues or fragrence, all natural. I washed my hair every 2 days and didn't scrub or anything but everytime all the tangles I had accumulated came out.
i use knotty boy shampoo, its alright after a while cause i keep backcombing the short bits and messin with them, so the one bit is really knotted and it holds alright, but another bit just doesnt
I just stopped combing and ripped here and there. Took nearly 2 years before they got decent (my hair is naturally straight and silky). When people randomly ask me how I got dreads they never believe me when I tell them this and assume I must have some secret technique. Nope! Just stopped combing, end of story.
I stopped combing my hair.. months ago.. i just wash it... dry it.. usually gets put in a pony tail.. when winter comes around.. hats will help me create what i am in search of.. right now not much of anything is goin on.. and summer was just too hot for a wool hat... now.. do i have to use shampoos or can i just rinse my hair with really hot water.. hot water will remove all residue and built up oils wont it?
sunshine dont keep rebackcombing that wont help u one bit but can do alotta dammage if its shoirt let it grow joker some ppl do do just water washing..im not convinced it works for everyone i wouldnt use "shamopoo" as most comercial shampooos are not good for dresads id use either a baking soda seep cleanse type or use der broonners or any otherr natural stuff without residues the purwer the better seinshine u make your own whats oin it? if its making uour hair too slippery to hold knots that maybe why .. allittle on the dry side should be best
baking sodas good stuff so u think just scrubbing the baking soda right into your wscalp without mixing it with anything 1st is best? hmm ill have to try that the way it fopams whreen it contacts water would lifty alotta crud right ut like peroxide dies in cuts or like that oxyclean stuff dioes everytime i mix the deep cleanse and see it foam up then dont use it for 15 min whilke tryin toi get hair wet enough i wonder if its losing alotta its effectiveness while sitting i will definately try this next tme
I backcombed mine but strays kept cropping up so i did the rip and twist thing then my curly hair has decided to be what it is and I have left them alone in the end your hair does what it wants. Just me.
