no real specific guidelines, just everyone make a mix and we'll swap with each other. after many hours reloading my music on my computer (recently reformatted) here's what i finally came up with:

    1. Portishead - Wandering Star
    2. Tom Waits - Metropolitan Glide
    3. Sneaker Pimps - Curl
    4. Rasputina - The Question of Time
    5. Robert Plant and Alison Krauss - Rich Woman
    6. Blonde Redhead - Messenger
    7. George Harrison - Art of Dying
    8. Placebo - Post Blue
    9. Gnarls Barkley - Storm Coming
    10. Madvillain - All Caps
    11. Koop - Bright Nights
    12. Quasimoto - Axe Puzzles
    13. Feist - I Feel It All
    14. Rasputina - Things I'm Gonna Do
    15. Ella Fitzgerald - When I Get Low (I Get High)
    16. Manu Chao - Mentira...
    17. Frank Zappa - Wonderful Wino
    18. Mos Def & Talib Kweli - Know That

its rather long, slightly more than an hour. its a fairly good cross section of my musical tastes, but there were some i had to cut out for length and some because they would be too out of place. theres little jazz in here, i listen to a bit more hip hop than the mix would suggest these days, and no classical, country or reggae are represented here.

but all in all i think its pretty ecclectic yet flows pretty well for a lot of different types of songs...

so if you had to do something like this, what would you put on it?

we can maybe find new songs or artists to check out

This is a mix I made for the car ride to my college. Not a definitive representation of my taste by any means, but not a bad one either

    Hieroglyphics - At the Helm
The Beatles - Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds
    The Avalanches - Fronteir Psychiatrist
Beirut - Mount Wroclai (Idle Days)
    Willie Williams - Armagideon Time
The Beatles - Fixing a Hole
Del the Funky Homosapien - 3030
Stephen Marley - The Traffic Jam (Feat. Damian Marley)
    CocoRosie - Tahiti Rain Song
DJ Shadow - Midnight in a Perfect World
Damian Marley - Road to Zion
    Willie Williams - Master Plan
    Beirut - The Gulag Orkestar

  5. Allman Brothers - Midnight Rider

oh you reminded me, i wished i could have put a captain beefheart song on the mix, too. i was thinking one of the following: i'm gonna booglarize you, her eyes are a blue million miles, big eyed beans from venus

and drone lore, you reminded me i'd heard coco rosie a long time ago and really liked it. i've always meant to look into them further because i thought they were awesome, but i never really did. i need to get a cd soon if possible

Yea man I love that album. it's the only beatle's album i have actually. ive heard abby road and wasn't moved to buy it, but i used to have a few random mp3s, including a few from the white album. probably would have bought that one if it wasnt so damn expensive.
