Unfortunately I don't work for the CIA so this is impossible but I see what you mean. I wonder if any rock star and history that professed to stand up for the enslaved masses actually could stand to really part from their beloved wealth to make the world a better place? Pink Floyd are the worst example of this.

 

i know for a while the radio people kept bragging about how they were playing "brand new music from rage" yet every time they said it they would play the same song from one of their old albums...

 

I'm not saying that he's a bad person. I'm saying that he's a capitalist. You cannot deny this. I think that RAGE got some great exposure to the Zapatista movement in Chiapas, and a few other things.

Pink Floyd... ehh... capitalistic...and fucking loving it! I don't really know how Pink Floyd made the world a better place in the practical sense other than some charity things.

The exact same thing has been happening to me.

 

Roger Waters in particular has made global injustice, war and corporate greed major themes in a lot of his music but he is loaded as hell. I remember a particular quote in a book a read about pink floyd that reads alond the lines of "Yeah, you feel guilty about having all this money and you wonder if you should give a lot of it to charity, but you just don't end up getting round to it"...and that was it. I mean what the fuck? I just don't see the use in having so much when others go without all the time.

 

Yeah, but tell me one group of Pink Floyd's stature isn't the same way. Of course they have tons of money.

I disagree, he believes in having a lot of money and being a successful rock star. If he came straight out and said that I would respect him far more.
