...even though this is an obituary, it still made me happy to know that this man went barefoot anywhere and everywhere he wanted to...including when he was in the military! R.I.P., Barefoot Stew. http://tinyurl.com/6ydclc
i've heard of holy men and women doing this. i guess there is a convent somewhere where all the nuns go barefoot.
once a barefooter from chile told his story of political refugee in the URSS where he fled to escape from pinochet's reign of terror. there in the URSS he received formal guerrilla training from the red army - together with other chilean partiots willing to start an uprising - but unfortunately that action never took place so mr. augusto (too bad i dont believe in hell) died in his bed instead of being rifled or hanged as he deserved. the point is, this guy applied barefooting in guerrilla tactics, where absolute stealthiness is mandatory. the Soviet counselors approved this practice, bun unluckily there was never a chilean barefoot commandos' corps, lol .
Thank you for the post. Fearless is the best word that I think best described McDonald. The fact that he made it a point to travel and dine out barefoot pretty much speaks for the man's exploits. I hope someday I can honor his legacy and become as fearless as him by making my journey through life barefoot. I attempted to go into a dive bar barefoot this summer and the bouncer almost had a nervous breakdown. Needless to say, I had my flip flops on in seconds. The fact that McDonald was able to dine barefoot at restaurants speaks wonders for his legacy. Cheers to him.:cheers2:
