Ok, so here in Canada, thanksgiving day is tomorrow... i was wondering, i've already got my alternative meal ready, but what do you folks usually do for thanksgiving instead of eating a poor little turkey? any good recipes or anything?

Well, I've been a vegetarian for the past two years, and the first year on Thanksgiving I just ate the vegetables and other sides. Last year I had Tofurkey. It was alright, a little bland. What are you planning on? I'll try to give you a few tips!

    Peace!

I don't celebrate Thanksgiving down this way. Hmm... not sure what's happening with Christmas Dinner yet... I love cooking so it will be something pretty special.

For the holidays, I usually prepare things like squash stuffed with cranberry rice pilaf, lentil loaf with mashed potatoes and mushroom gravy, some nice steamed veggies, & awesome vegan pumpkin pie.

i had falafel in a pita with couscous and i had some of the vegetable sides. i think the best part of dinner is being with the family so i didn't really go all out this year!

it must be great having having family that supports your meatless life. after two years, my mom is getting better, but not as supportive. especially not as supportive when i don't conform to their holiday traditions.

yeah my mom can be a little ignorant at times tho... i live with her and see my dad weekends, and he's awesome about it....His fridge is chock full of Yve's and kale and miso and stuff...lol.
But I think my mom is really weirded out by my dropping honey from my diet lately....Can't wait for her reaction when I tell her I'm going vegan! yarrr...'twill be grand when i tell yer.

lol, good luck. My family is fine if I make my own stuff, luckily i love cooking so everyone turns out happy.

As we dont have a thanksgiving, our big meal is at xmas. I always thiink that Tofuerky is good, especially with an orange and caraway glaze (yummmmmm). Although branching out is fun too - stuffed vine leaves are another flash meal that feels special, y'know?

But we don't tend to have huge cooked dinners over the hoidays anyway - it's summer down here so light food, maybe a picnic on the beach is where its usually at.

Eh, Tofurkey. How is that stuff? I am wondering about Thanksgiving too. My dad will be in Texas, so it's probably just going to be me and my mom because my brother is anti-social with the family for some reason.

I will probably eat mashed potatoes, some kind of green beens, corn on the cob, cooked carrots, hopefully some home-made ice cream, and some kind of meat substitute. I don't know yet if I can brave "tofurkey". This will be my first Thanksgiving as a vegetarian.
