I just recently became very intrigued by magick and spell casting, and i want to study this and learn about this. I have many questions regarding this. Just a few tho... 1. Spell casting, is it like in the movies where a spiel of words come out and something is supposed to immediately change? what is the deal with spell casting and how does it work. 2. What exactly is magick, and can anyone learn to do it/use it (and cast spells and the such.) 3. Is black magick and dark magick supposed to be like the dark side? Like with the force, is black magick supposed to be like the dark side of the force, and white magick be the good side? Anything you would suggest so that i could learn about this, and start practicing magick and spellcasting and such? I am very interested in this kind of thing. Thanks.
1. No 2. It's energy and its all around you. 3. The force is like chi, its all around you, and if you use it to take advantage of others and for personal gain, then thats why its considered the "dark side" But seriously, thats all in the movies man its not like harry potter in real life.... go to the New Age section of Books a Million, there are some really good books on this subject.
1. Spell-casting can be a torrent of words, or one word, or simply a train of thought. The point is that you are re-directing energy to some ulterior purpose. 2. "Magick" is the guidance and application of either your energies or the energies of your environment to some purpose. Magick can be applied constructively or destructively. 3. Black Magick is the manipulation of negative energies, destructive energies. White Magick is the manipulation of positive energies, healing/constructive energies......
Witchcraft as depicted in the movies = bullshit. The two are not interchangable. They are different things. It all goes together. You can't find some spell online, follow what it says, and then get it right away. It's all esoteric and spiritual. You have to know where the energies you are using are coming from. Magick is just one part of Witchcraft and I know some Witches who don't do magick. You should look into some different religions and ways of life.
Well, I think you have covered it all.... Magick is neither 'black' nor 'white' itself, it depends on how it is used and what it is used for. Like hellopeople, I recommend some books and research before you dive into anything.
Magick has been defined by Crowley as the art of making change in accordance with Will, and Dion Fortune took it a step further and defined it as the art of changing consciousness in accordance with Will. The alternate spelling of "magick" with a "k" on the end was introduced by Crowley, who wanted to distinguish it from stage magick and entertainer's slight-of-hand. Some stage magicians nowadays, however, see their craft as "magick" as well as entertainment magic. Jeff "Magnus" McBride is an example of a well-known stage magician who also practices magick. Either way, magick is a transformative process. No, you don't wave a magick wand, get shimmers and sparklies and have what you want instantly appear in a puff of smoke. That would get boring after awhile, and magick is infinitely more interesting and miraculous than movie special effects. There are many systems of understanding and performing magick. There is ceremonial magick, chaos, Pagan religious magick, hoodoo and other forms of folk magick, and many other systems. You can think of them like languages with which you communicate with the universe. All are valid, but some are easier to master than others, and some work on different levels than others. I would recommend that you do a little research to find which "language" speaks the most clearly to you, and then study that for awhile. "Dabbling", sampling different systems without really understanding any, can lead to confusion. Although that's not to imply ecclecticism is necessarily "bad". Hoodoo and other forms of folk magick have their origins in very ecclectic combinations of practices. But pick a system and study it, so that you get a feel for what magick is really about before you try to combine systems. Some magicians will advise you never to combine systems at all. I have mixed feelings about that, and can see both sides of that argument. Hoodoo and folk magick often is oriented towards meeting needs, solving problems, achieving specific goals, and attaining desires. It works on lower, more earthy planes of existence, and is outcome-based. Some examples goals of this kind of magick might be to get a job, perform better at certain tasks, or attract true love. It might use spells with "charged" objects such as talismans, charms, or knotted cords or hypnotic techniques such as chanting or the use of fragrant oils to help achieve the magick's goal. Sometimes this kind of magick is called low magick. The term originally refered to magick that works lower on the quabalistic Tree of Life. That doesn't mean it's bad, but some magicians may consider it to be less desirable for spiritual progress. Ceremonial and meta-magick often is oriented towards spiritual growth, or the Knowledge and Conversation with the Holy Guardian Angel. It works on higher, more spiritual planes of existence, and is experiencial and process-based. Some examples of goals of this type of magick might be to disolve blockages to realizing and reciving true abundance and prosperity, to overcome a "demon" or dark inner or outer energy that is impeding spiritual progress, or to experience the union of the Sacred Marriage. It might utilize elaborate or at least highly structured rituals or ceremonies involving substances to alter consciousness, visualization, mantras or breathwork to assist in achieving the magick's goal. Sometimes this kind of magick is called high magick. The term originally referred to magick performed higher on the quabalistic Tree of Life. It too isn't bad, but some magicians may consider it impractical and elitist. Neither kind of magick is better or worse than the others. Like religion, science, politics and any other kind of knowledge, either kind of magick can be abused to manipulate others, cause harm, or for selfish means. This is where the term black magick came from; it refers to magick without Light, meaning the light of God or Consciousness. There are many conflicting opinions among magicians of all kinds as to where positive magic ends and black magick begins. Anyone can learn to go through the motions of either kind of magick. And anyone can learn to actually practice either kind of magick. The difference lies in your attitude towards it, and the quality of consciousness you are willing to commit to the practice. For either kind of magick is a practice, that is, something you do with attention, much in the same way meditation is a practice.
you forgot #4: its not real, dont let it take over your life now sure one day your dressing in black and hangin out with the gothic kids and the next thing you know your gonna be that creepy kid who wears black all the time and plays with this magic cards all day that nobody wants to be around.
Actually Magick is quite real... though it may not be as many would think, and just because one doesn't believe in something, don't mean it doesn't exist. Magick can be as simple as saying a prayer, asking something in your mind, out loud, or an elaborate ritual with many people... even someone who knows nothing about magick just making a wish. As mentioned, it is neither black, nor white... there is only the intention of mankind, be it positive or negative. Like nature, neither good, nor evil, only order and chaos exists. Nature is perfect, and the energy in magick comes from nature, from our mind and body, and the universe, and it is this energy that you must be able to summon and control to perform magick beyond simple. Along with the ability to control and focus your thoughts to direct the energy and give it purpose. Nature has purpose for all things within, but when mankind is destructive, then nature becomes unbalanced, thus creating chaos. The same goes for negative energy, as some call Dark or Black magick, and this comes with a price... always!!! Karma gathers energy from our intents and actions, and keeps adding this energy until ready to burst, then gives it back to you... if negative, then something bad or painful WILL happen to you, but if positive, then something good or a new change WILL come your way. Never do magick when angry or emotionally unstable, or suffer bad karma, for energy knows your true self, beyond words people fool themselves with. This is why some spells backfire... more or less without explaining further. Anyhow, read and research many books and sites, learn psychic shielding for unwanted energies, and other elements of protection before even trying anything... even an experiment can go wrong and demons are waiting to torment the foolish. Peace and blessing everyone, Spirit Wynd
