thanks, i do not think i will comb them out because i do not have anyone who could really help me put them back again. but i will try your dewaxer blend. i had washed them right before that post and they do not look as bad as that but there is two much wax. that picture was a week ago. will they lock at all with wax in them? even if it is just a little. just a question, because i here a lot of debat. does the wax go away on its own?
ive got quite heavy wax buildup - 6 months worth - but i think that whenever i wash, some comes out, but not a lot, so in your case it might wash out if you use hot enough water etc a few times, but i wouldnt be certain. mine certainly wont go away by itself, but ive done the deep clean, and im ganna try and get some orange oil to use on it to see what that does
ok, sitting in towel with mixture on the head. dandruff is a big problem for me. also my locs get stripped of a lot of good stuff during the summer because i swim in chlorinated water so they get super dry and brittle looking... So far this feels great!
did you pour it on your head or did you dunk your head? did you just let it run off or did you squeez the lock and rub you scalp and stuff?
i poured it on my head, caught the run-off in another bowl, and poured it on my head again, wrung out the excess,, i dunked my head a bit, but it was hard cause i was doin it by myself, didnt rub, just left it, wrapped it up in a towel =]
how does locks form? hair must move to knot wax only glues haurs to eachother preventing movement..making it look slightly like locks but preventing locks from really forming your better off gettingt it all out read mammajojos thread i realized.. after io think 6 months waxy ewhen she goyt it clean it was so undreaded she chopose to take iyt all out and start over if shed never done a thing in that time shed have dreads today naturaly yoirs maybe lil short still to go natural but if u just sectioned and added s bead to the end they will dread just fine..
yea dude. seriously just comb em out. i was high off 3 cookies and 4 blunts to myself and i gave my friend waxless locks that look great with my hands. its rlly not hard just get ur gf or a good friend to put em in. if u want good looking tight locks right away[they will loosen but will look great for a while] then use the twist n rip method and maybe a lil crotcheting. [i didnt crotchet on my friend] but they were still some nice lookin locks
no dont cropchet crochetting dose massive dammage as well as requrrtes constand t upkleep u will have to crochety for life and risk breaking dreads off crochetting is a bad idea
twist n rip from what i know of it seems like a decent methid natural is genteliest and results in healyhiest ofcoiuse but basicly the gentler less agressive the mergid the betterand poking sharp objects through the dreadsniot very gentle to the dread even if its noy painful to the head like backcombing
dude woah, i did not comb them out but thanks for the positive feelings. anyway, soaringeagle, thanks for the help it worked out great. you are right in that i probably need to use the mixture another time but i am going to wait until next week. lots and lots of wax came out and i really did not lose hardly any locks. what do you suggest for the tips where they are splitting out now that the wax is gone? my gut feeling is just to let them be until dreadies mature a bit. this would also be my feeling towards the loose roots. what would you suggest.
yup leave em be.. the roots are meant to have about an inch of undreaded hair thats normal it gives em room to move and lock the tips well more naturakl dreads tend to have the whispy loose tips.. dreads need a sertain length to knot so the shirt ends dont usualy if u want when the dreads become dreads u can rub the tips to blunt them, but i never botheres to
aww3w i know its traumatic but your beginning a nre journey..the right way dontr miss what u loost look forward to whatyou'll gain
ever since i used the deep clean on my dreads they have felt so much better... i taught myself to crochet and made a wool hat for them too! i will post updated pics of them both soon... thanks so much to you for the tips! L
Yo to all! Just registered here after reading all this great advice about dreads. I've had dreads for like just over a year now and lovin em more and more. Anyway just did a treatment with this concoction, and yeah, my scalp feels nice and fresh and my locs clean. The water did not, I have to admit, rinse out dirty, hah so thats nice to know. I started them kinda like just towel rubbin and stuff, then after it started matting a bit, did backcombing, and they've locked up nice since then. I use dreadlock shampoo and oils made by an aromatherapist/loctician Rastafari woman down here in South Africa, and her products are really ace. Her being a qualified aromatherapist plus loctician makes all her products smell fantastic. And her being Rastafari helps with other stuff too hehehe So yeah glad to be here with people who share my love and obsession with dreadlocks. Irie!
