i needed alot of extra sleep while i was pregnant and i was never anemic. sleepiness is a normal symptom like food cravings and nausea, and is caused by the hormones your body produces.
preecclampsia isn't really something you get from eating wrong. it's just something that happens to women, randomly, primarily in their first pregnancies. a poor diet can aggravate the problem, though.
the jury is out on why women actually get it and what actually prevents it. i had it with my first. when i was pregnant with my second i did a ton of research on it because i didn't want it again .... it sucks. all that swelling. i turned into a blimp. i consulted with doctors, naturalists and midwives. i went with the midwife's advice. i did start to have mild symptoms in my last month of my second pregnancy but nothing like the first.
the mdc link looks good. the thing with pregnancy and childrearing today is their's two ends of the spectrum and then theirs somewhere in the middle. *what to expect when you're expecting* leaves out too much information, imo and doesn't committ to what's best for the baby and mommy during pregnancy. it's takes a middle ground stance and leaves out important facts. ob gyn's like to pass it out so no one gets offended. sometimes to truth is offensive to people, like the effects birthing drugs can have on the baby, for example. an example of two ends of the spectrum is breastfeeding verses bottlefeeding. i used to think there was no difference at all, both were equally as good for the baby. another example of two ends of the spectrum is co-sleeping versus ferberizing (letting baby cry it out). again, i used to think it was best for baby to cry it's lungs out and learn to soothe itself ... until is heard my baby crying his lungs out and felt sick to my stomach.
