I want to start making my own shampoo or hair cleanser and I saw the thread on wax removal. I was wondering if the baking soda/tree tea/lemon/salt combination would be okay to use on my hair whenever I clean it, or would that be an overkill? I don't want my hair to be too greasy or funky (but I spray tea tree on it so that shouldn't be a problem) but I also don't want it to get too dry and start breaking.

I've been thinking of some other ideas in my head, such as boiling rosemary in water, putting lemon juice in with just a little bit of tree tea and baking soda. Do you think that would clean well? And I was thinking of collecting a bit of ocean water and spraying that on there occassionally. Right now I'm cleaning my hair about once a week, but sometimes it's more like every 9 days, but for the most part as long as I rinse it a little in the shower it seems like I could wash less than that if I wanted to.

Also about essential oils. I'm probably going to be experimenting with them a lot, and I was wondering if you knew of any that I shouldn't use in my hair. I'm going to try out the orange thing, eucalyptus (which I've already used with the tea tree) but also other things for more smelly-good purposes (because I'm a little girly, lol) not any chemicals, just random essential oils mixed in water or to put in the shampoo. I reaaaalllly looooove patchouli and a lot of other scents. Probably some flowery ones like jasmine, lavender, I also like clove, myrrh, and a few others. And for some reason I feel like mixing in fresh basil for the shampoo, because it's always had a "cleaning" quality to me. And I'm sure that there will be many others. I want to stop using the dreadhead hq shampoo that my friend gave me because it might be contributing to my dandruff and it smells funky. and natural is just better.

I also have another random question. Do any of you burn a lot of incense? I do, and I was wondering if once my hair tightens more, that the smell would stay in there? just out of curiosity. And if you smoke pot, will your hair smell like it too, or will it pretty much be unnoticable?
I imagine ciggarettes are the worst, good thing I don't really smoke those.

yeah, I don't think I really want my hair to smell like vinigar, but the fresh lemon balm sounds good. I don't know what bronners is.
well hopefully the pot smell won't be too much of a problem, it shouldn't be, but I shouldn't go around smelling like it because of my job and everything.
that's true about the mint. I didn't think of that. Peppermint oil will definently be added to the list.
I know some herbalists, they might know a thing or two on herbs for hair.
I'm also going to start making my own soaps and lotions once I have the supplies.
