has anyone ever heard of these guys? if not maybe Catch22? the frontman from streetlight created catch 22 these guys are awesome have 3 albums out not that are all lyrical genius. Take a listen let me know what you think
hell yea, streetlight manifesto is probably the best ska band out there now. do you by any chance listen to bandits of the acoustic revolution? tomas works in that as well, with other streetlight members and other talented musicians and it kicks ass. they only have one cd though and its 5 songs, but it's totally worth a check. on their site they also said there's new music in the works. they're always slow on the release, but here's what they say i really really really cannot wait
Mmm the first two Streetlight Manifesto albums are amazing. Everything about them amazes me each time I listen - the lyrics, the horn parts, the basslines, the drumming. Not to mention that the songs are just plain quality. I like "A Better Place, A Better Time", "Here's To Life" and "On & On & On" So how would you rate their newest CD? I'm wondering if I should go buy it.
I'd give it a ten. I was obsessed with the cd for about a month after I first heard it and it only grew more and more on me. But you should totally check out some of their new songs on either youtube or songza or anything. My favorites on the cd are "The Receiving End of It All", "Down, Down, Down to Mephisto's Cafe", and "Somewhere in the Between" If you loved the first two releases, I'm sure you'll love this one.
sweet i gotta look for it, ive only ever heard the album with a better place, a better time and heres to life and all those amaaaazing songs
i hated Catch 22's Dinosaur Sounds album or whatever and i hate the trombonist's voice. i like their Alone in the Crowd CD for the most part sans a couple tracks, but that vocalist is long gone. i randomly caught a Catch 22 show sometime late 2006 right around their Permanent Revolution release and they played a decent set.
streetlight is def my favorite ska band right now. i got to see them live a couple years ago and it was sick! so full of energy it was ridic
yeah man!! their live performance is soooo awesome. the first time i saw them was probably one of the best ska shows i have ever attended, ever. they were headlining a show at a small venue in CT and they totally rocked their asses off. they played almost every song off Everything Goes Numb and encored with Dear Sergio. soooo amazing. since then i've only caught them opening for RBF and the venue was way too packed to skank around, but Streetlight still played an awesome set. thankfully it's almost october 10th, and they'll be coming around Albany to headline
