I just moved back to so cal after living in colorado for a year, and I'm dying to see some shows, but none of my friends here like the same music, ya know, your basic jam bands, bluegrass, some reggae here and there... So, anyone down to smoke a little and go see some shows? Guy, girl, I don't care as long as you don't make me leave early, who's in?
No responses? I'll bite. Where are you talking about? Like Hollywood shows, big venue stuff, local dive somewhere that nobody's ever heard of? I don't get up to LA much to see shows, and being a musician I should really change that...

Yay, I got a response too! I wasn't sure if you were looking at this thread anymore so I mentioned it in the other one. Bluegrass is great, but can you find it in LA?!?! Reggae is always cool. I love all different kinds of music, even though I'm normally a classic rock junkie. I play all different kinds too (jazz, flamenco, blues, rock, metal, pop, country, etc... hell, I've even recorded on hiphop records). As for a band looking for a female singer, i don't know of one off hand. I'd check craigslist if you are serious about getting out there... But, I love to collaborate and work with other musicians too! I find my rock band a little conforming for my varied styles, and have been wanting to start a solo project for a while - maybe play coffee shops, mellow stuff, maybe throw a djembe in there... IDK. I sing too and play guitar, as well as write lyrics and music, and I'd be way down to jam with you if you like. hmm, shows coming up, I haven't looked in a bit cause I've been so broke lately, Ray LaMontagne is coming near the end of october, can't wait for that one! I just saw Toots and the maytals play a free show in Santa Monica this week, it was ok, not the best thing ever. There are a few good local reggae bands, and a couple jam bands too, you definitely have to search though. As far as bluegrass goes, Yonder comes through about once a year, and some other bands, but it's hard to find, that's one if the things I miss most about CO... I'll definitely check out your stuff, and I'd love to jam sometime, any singing is good. I'd really love to do some bluegrass with a little (or a lot) or blues thrown in. Maybe get a mandolin, guitar, banjo, acoustic bass thing going. I write too, mostly blues, but it lends itself so well to bluegrass. As for craig's list, I've never had good luck with it, most responses I've gotten have been either from people in their 50's who play weddings, or guys who are clearly trolling for chicks. L.A.'s a crazy town though.... But yes, hit me up and we should totaly jam sometime!

I know what you mean about craigslist, there are a lot of weirdos on there, but occasionally some good bands too. I'd be way down to play blues and bluegrass stuff. Blues is easier to do with less instruments, I must admit. I assume you don't play anything, right? I think I mentioned my hand being broken, but I'll be out of my cast in a week. I can still play guitar, but I can't ride my motorcycle, and it's hard to get up to LA with no wheels. Once I'm back riding though I'd love to jam... assuming you have a place to play - if not I got a place to play here in Long Beach. Maybe the weekend of the 13th or 20th? As far as DSO, I'd be all for it... I think it's only like $30, right? If you'd be willing to go to the Anaheim one, I might be able to get us in for free -I know someone who works at House of Blues.
