I love my nipple piercings, but I have one slight problem, I got door knockers instead of just barbells, and I've noticed that they rub the skin around my nipple and I haven't actually noticed any pain from this, but I've noticed the skin that's being rubbed starting to flake off a little bit, which is mildly concerning. So, does anyone know how to prevent this, or if this is normal for a relatively new piercing (been just over two weeks now) and if it'll stop once the skin there gets used to it?
I'm not imagining what a "doorknocker" is exactly. Nipple shields and the like should only be worn on healed piercings due to increased movement and pressure. If you can remove the offending part of the jewelry without removing the piercing, I'd try it. If not, I'd wait another month or so and try to change to a regular bar or ring. Anyway, its not ununsual for nips to get a little crusty around the sites as they heal. Sea salt soaks (1/4 tsp/1 cup hot water in a shot glass over the nip 2-3day) and leave it the fuck alone are the two best pieces of advice. It you feel like the jewelry is rubbing on clothing, you could put bandaids over them during the day until you can go shirtless Cheers
i'm guessing cbrs? just a hunch. could be many things, including dry skin. esp. if you're using some sort of solution to clean the new piercing that contains alcohol, or using dial soap or whatever. both of which are not so nice to your new piercing. but yeah... if you're a girl, wear a sports bra. that helped me tremendously. if you're a boy, buy a sports bra. lol, j/k. but the bandaids is a good idea, if that's what's causing the issue.
I think its a horizontal bar with a U shaped piece hanging from each side.. if you get what i mean.. best image i could find in a hurry..... You should not have anything like this or any form of nipple shield on 2week old piercings. If its like what ive posted, and can be taken off without too much irritation, Take It Off. Give it a couple of months.
ugh. can't imagine having that hanging off my nips... but that's just me. yeah, sounds like they should not be on a new-ish piercing!
i think they might just be rings...i mean rings on nipples do look like door knockers, and i cant imagine most tattoo shops putting anything beside a ring or a barbell in.
Haha yea I meant rings, door knockers is just how all of my friends refer to them! nothing crazy or fancy. so yea, the rings rub against my skin and my skin falls off. it's quite sad. well actually it seems to have gone away on the left, but the right one is all messed up due to an unfortunate incident with a very hot tea kettle. Moral of the story PUT A BRA ON when you are making tea. My nipple was burned, well not the actual nipple but the areola got burned slightly and it's kind of unhappy at the moment. As for the ring problem...I think it's clearing up on it's own. Now if that burn would just heal!
theres a shop in my city a lot worse.. did horizontal and vertical piercings on both nipples in one sitting, with a nipple shield behind the vertical and a u-bar like i posted off the horizontal. ridiculous. needless to say they didnt last long
girls who like girls like to see it too. and if you lived near me, i'd pierce yours for you. i did my own, and for a few of my friends. it's easy and fun.
Oh well...that would be fun. I like seeing them there too...just because you can tell the person is a freak I have a bumpersticker on my car that says "God Bless the Freaks"
ooh! I wonder to what an extent a fashion enthusiast can go through to make their own fashion statement by puncturing their delicate organs like nipple??????
Ochie! Burned boobie sounds terrible! I've been going back and forth about getting mine done. Mine are so sensitive though, I'm really afraid that I won't be able to take the pain and I'll probably faint or something like that. Then I can just imagine all the nerves getting the second one done.
