I am about a week from starting my journey. I part my hair down the middle. so if i was going to backcomb a bit should I keep my part down the middle? Or grab random pieces? Thanks!
grab random..the part wont last anyways and if u look at some "salon dreads" and the typical type hown on knottyboy or dreadheadhqyou see a sharp checkerboard psattetn that looks very unnatural untill the hair from ripping fills in the gaps mopre random sectioning will give s more natural result, just try toi limmit the crossing hairs at the roots which will causetoo much congoing if u start natural today though..bu bnext week u may find a lil bit if sextioning neginning on its own..u probly wont find dreads in aweek but may find it starting to for natural sections then u can decide wether to backcomb em ir..wait another couple weeks andseee how it goes lets see a before pic
I'd go random as well. I have the super straight lined-sections, cuz I started from braids, but now things are starting to fill in a bit and grow out and hide the lines. Oh yeah, if you didn't already catch this: it is advisable not to use wax. I did, and used a ton. It was gross, slimy, and smelly. I'm glad to have rinsed it mostly out. I will have to do a deep cleanse one day to really get it all out. Good luck, and have patience. It really can take a lot of it to make things work.
haha my 7yr old dressed me up! but it shows how long it is. the second is me and my little man hiking. View attachment 39454 View attachment 39455
wow u have a 7 year old? you look so young and pretty! your hairs beaitifil i thing it will dread fast
i randomly sectioned, but kept things flowing the way of my part. so that when it's down, my dreads naturally fall where my hair would before i had dreads.
Yep and a 3 1/2 year and almost 6 1/2 month old too. I have been trying to get my 7 year old to dread his hair. He has lots of thick beautiful hair. Dose anyone on here have kids with dreads? nakedtreehugger I was hoping my dreads would do the same thing. Thanks.
When I started with my half-assed attempt at backcomb we had decided to do random and get rid of my part, slightly to the side. After the first couple of washes and the backombing had pretty much fallen out, my part came back. I let my hair do it's own thing pretty much from then on. My hair dreaded around my existing part to side that I've had all me life. It gives a pretty unique look.
there are a couple parents with dready kids just trying to think who liik through the whoke dready meet n freet or the faq/maintanance thread an u should find em i reme, ber 1 momma ..always hada snamke in her sig who was that again she didher kids by twist n rip im too tired to think straight..lol but think theres at least a couple dready famoies lirkin out there
spiralmama, i'm probably going to backcomb mine, at least to start. i think once i do it once i won't be doing much to them except sticking them up in a wool tam, but if they're semiformed it'll probably be easier to get a job in chicago. i can't wait to show up to an interview in a slim and fashionable skirt-suit with my hair in knots.
i worked in an office managing volonter web designers i showed up for the interview in a big ass tam but 1st day on the job i let em down and 1st time i did the boisswalked by..stopped behind me starin leke 20 secondsbefore walkin by but they never said as word to me bout em and never seemed to care ..but then asgain theyre receptionist had her earlobes strethed with crustals through em so maybe they wrere lil openminded
haha SE i think that so long as i prove that i can dress well and be polite it shouldn't be as hard as i think... otherwise... i'll be living in lincoln park... lots of awesome coffeeshops there
yea i started with random. I don't have all my hair dreaded, I am undecided as to if I want to do it all. my hair is long and halfway down my back, but when I dreaded it it got really short which i didn't like. any advice for me? good luck with your dreadeys. peace love and light
