with almost every book i read i feel as though i've gained...something Star Signs - Linda Goodman Edgar Cayce on the Akashic Records Siddhartha - Herman Hesse Power Vs. Force - Dr. David R. Hawkins An Actors Purpose - Stanislavski 1984 - Orwell Brave New World/The Perrenial Philosophy - Aldous Huxley The Foam of the Daze - Boris Vian so many more
What luck! Here I was thinking to look up Aldous Huxley at the library and my mom got a slew of them at the dump. Some people on here who have otherwise great taste like him so I am looking forward to some reading tonight.
Huxley can be hard to read because he's a scientist before he's a creative writer--but nonetheless very interesting.
erich fromms "escape from freedom" was a mind blowing book for me. It changed my views on life as well as my attitude towards it.
dont you just love books? such an awesome thing......to be able to grow and learn from virtually endless & various experiences
Oh my, I forgot the book that REALLY changed my life forever, http://www.cobcottage.com/handsculpt.html I have to share this wonderful cob stuff with everyone. There are some pictures of cob houses here- http://www.geocities.com/RainForest/Canopy/7148/cobpics.html
The turning point for me was 'the magic of mind'by U.S.Anderson. It inspired me to write my own. the inspiration hasn't died, but one day I'l put it all together. Besides that one: In order Introduction: Sidharta Autobiography of a yogi Man's search for meaning Lazy man's guide to enlightment Beyond good and evil The art of positive thinking The science of mind Journeys out of the body The teachings of Don Juan Tales of Power ---------------- The wisdom of God The Bahagavad gita The play of conciousness The Aquarian gospel of Jesus the Christ The Shrimad Bhagavatam The Urantia Book The Vasistha Yoga ============= I am that The experience of nothingness The greatest medicine ------------------------------------------------------- I have read now all the books by Carlos Castaneda all of Emerson's essays, and many others too like,'Be here now' 'the God particle' 'the starseed transmition' 'the music of the spheres''in tune with the infinite' 'thoughts are things' 'the budhist bible' 'the awakened one' hundreds of astrolgy books, a few biographies, and many of the vedas, like sri isopanisads, yagur veda, the bible, the Ramayana, the Mahabarata, yet very few fiction. Few more about near death experiences like 'Life after life' and 'Saved by the light' and a host about UFO's. The ones on top were the ones that I can say they really motivated me to believe in man, in myself and in God, yet all have influence me, and even movies have done that, and if anyone reads them I I guarantee they will not be the same inside again. Many books fill in more detail about what you know, but few are a catalist to your way of thinking. Others are ones that one should not stop reading them but use them as a guide for life. Those are the best.
Catch 22 by Joseph Heller was an amazing book to scramble your mind a bit. It's amazing, you need to read it right now (and watching the movie doesn't count)!
I apologize if someone has already mentioned this, but Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance asks readers to reconsider how they look at the world.
"No One Here Gets Out Alive" "Discovering Your Past Lives" Other than that, self-help books have been good: "Toxic Parents" by Susan Forward "Games People Play" and "What Do You Say After You Say Hello?" by Eric Berne "Scripts People Live" by Claude Steiner I would like to read the Alan Watts one about being who you are, that sounds right up my alley.
