ok well not a big deal, but at night school, this security guard took away my cigarettes because he saw them sticking out of my bag (i know, i'm a dumbass) I had a half full baggy of weed but it was really small (like .25) and he didn't see it cause it was under the cigarettes in the pack...so i got fuckin lucky. he threw them away infront of me to prove he wasn't stealing them or some shit so hopefully they will never know about the weed. he didn't get my name or anything anyways. but i live in illinois and you have to be 18 to buy tobacco but 17 to have it on you. i'm 16, but when he asked how old i was and i said 17, and he took them away. I said you can ahve them when youre 17 and he got really pissed and said all this shit but i was wondering does this law not apply in schools or some shit? cause that is bullshit, i want my cigarettes back.
well let me ask you this. in the states where it's legal to carry firearms (registered ones, of course), do you think you'd be allowed to carry a legal gun on you in school? lolololololol.
a gun and cigarettes are totally different....you can't kill a room full of people with a pack of smokes (not including diseases/lung cancer of course). He shouldn't have been able to do shit if they were in your bag. If you were smoking it would have been a different story. Guy was probably on a power trip.
in the US smoking is prohibited on mostly all school grounds, especially public schools. both guns and cigarettes have the common factor of being prohibited. therefor you are not allowed to have either when you are on their property and if you do be ready to face the consequences. at my school they can suspend you for simply having them with you so the OP was sort of lucky. i don't know if it's different in canada
Yes, they are both prohibited on campus but that was the worst comparison possible. You can't carry a concealed weapon in Illinois!
lol yeah...well i brought another pack (except i only had 1 cig in it this time i left the rest at home just incase) and he took it away again and he showed me the rules so apparantly you cant have em on campus unless youre 18...which is stupid. .but whatever.
Yup we have rights here.... and guns are illegal without licenses. They also do not sell handguns...only hunting rifles. I'm assuming you are in highschool. Every school around here has a designated smoking area where you can go and smoke if you choose. If you smoke and someone takes your cigarettes you are having your personal rights/freedoms taken from you...it shouldn't matter at all if you are on someone elses property. I'm happy I don't have to deal with that kind of shit even though I am not a smoker...but if I was the most they could do was ask me not smoke there. Ps guns and cigarettes are totally stupid to contrast in this situation.
