I see a lot of attention placed on relationship astrology. I am just beginning to develop a basic understanding of general astrology, but I'm really not interested, at this point in my life, in developing romantic relationships. How can I improve my understanding of astrology applied to small, service-based business? I'm an alternative practioner, I feel I should have at least a working knowledge of basic astrology, because I will have clients interested in it, and some of them may want to take that into consideration in planning change and goal-setting (although it's not the main focus of my business, it's something I should be aware of).
You can certainly learn it, but it's not easy. The basics are easy enough to learn, but this is one of those things where the more you learn, the more you realize you have a long way to go. A while ago, after I learned how to basically read a chart, I thought I was ready to take clients. Then I hit a brick wall. I could tell people WHAT was going to happen, but not WHEN. That's when I stepped back to reevaluated everything. I recommend a class. It will force a learning structure, and I think you'll learn quicker. Don't take preconceived notions with you either.
I'm not interested in becoming an astrologer. I'm sure there are others in the area who have that as their strength. But I think I need to be aware of it in order to best meet my clients needs (even if that includes giving them a referral to an astrologer if what they're really interested in is astrology but not life coaching.) As far as classes are concerned, cost is a concern. I might be able to afford a class later, but I have other investment priorities at the moment. Is there a way I can brush up on the basics without overspending?
Can you be more specific? Do you want to know a good location to set up a business or do you want to know how your business will do in the future?
I'm not interested in predictive astrology at all, any more than I am interested in predictive Tarot. I would like to have enough of a working knowledge of it to have a respectful understanding of my client's wishes involving things like timing, planning, or how they feel they may be affective in the here-and-now. I am not interested in becoming an astrologer, but acknowledge that certain applications of astrology may directly or indirectly affect my life coaching business. I'm in an area where there is high interest in astrology (which also makes it a good market for what I do) so it's likely that I will come in contact with clients who want to incorporate astrology into their goals and changes. More of a supplement, and perhaps eventually another tool in my kit, than the main focus of my business. In time, if I can gain enough of a knowledge of it to apply it to my business as well, even better. ETA, if it clarifies at all, that I'm more interested in understanding astrology for the purpose of understanding my clients and meeting their needs, than for its predictive applications, although it's not the main focus of my practice (Tarot life coaching). Is that clearer?
