Hey everyone I am on Oxycontin for pain management (and sometimes also for pleasure). I am prescibed 3x20mg OxyContin daily and Percocet for breakthrough pain. Lately I have noticed that my pain seems to be getting worse and my meds dont seem to work as good as they used to. My question is, what is the best way to ask him to increase my dose without making hi too suspicious? Thanks in advance for your help.
Just be honest...that is the only way. Tell him you are having trouble at more points in the day then before, and that you want to take more meds to stop the pain but you are afraid to run out.
Yeah you have to be honest. Doctors know that tolerance builds with these types of drugs. He should be understanding. I would also think being in Canada doctors are sometimes more lenient than in the US. But it all does come down to a per doctor basis. And since you're in Canada (What Province?), just light up
Ya smoking is an option that I use as a last resort cuz I don't particularly enjoy it but it really helps me sleep if I'm in otherwise too much pain to be able to. Also living in BC we got some pretty good shit here! But ya I suppose being honest and straightforward with him is my best bet. Thanks!
Oh man, BC. **drooooooolllllll** I go up a few times a year to shred Whistler, and the herb up there is sooooo fucking ill. I don't think I could find shitty weed up there. The BC farmers know what they're doing!! Good luck man.
Damn man, thats unfortunate. I'm sure the marijuana will intensify the pain killers as it always does for me but uh... I suggest that due to my success, plus it won't be more opiates you'll be getting which is better for you. And maybe a beer would help out, but just one because thats a decent dosage you're taking. I don't know, just be honest with the doctor, and maybe ask him?
Ya doctors are pretty good at detecting when someone is lying vs. just trying to score some opiates. So I agree with everyone on the previous posts stating "JUST BE HONEST!" The doc knows about tolerance and how you will need to be bumped up in your pain meds. He would MUCH rather you be comfortable with a higher dose than in pain with less drugs. Ultimately though it IS up to him... remember he is an M.D=Makes Decisions!!!
Unfortunately, this is not the case with most doctors. More often then not, doctors will under-prescribe people in fear of gaining attention from the DEA. It's sad, but it happens too often.
