hay guys, im feeling really crap tonite.im doing my socail care at college got a placement in a skool, and my family r putting me down cos i have dreads and how they wont like me cos im different.i hate it cos wer all diff our hair is just like theres.also i feel society r bad cos its ok if your black to have dreads, but dare a white gal have them and your called every name under the sun!! has anybody else had the same probs?? ps im keeping my baby dreads in
just ignore it,, my family HATED mine (ive got rid of them now),, most of the white kids i know have been all like 'eurgh, why have you got them for, theyre dirty' etc etc etc, but quite a lot of black people have been offering me advice and stuff and saying how good they look and whatever (im a white girl, so thats nice) i found that most people were negative about dreads because they dont know about them - they think that hair hasnt been washed for 8 months prior to having them and that you cant wash them after.. thats not your problem its theirs. so yeah,, i did have the same problems, with both sets of dreads, but i learnt to ignore it and stick up for myself and educate myself more about them so i could show people just how ignorant they are =]
I get it all the time But dont worry It just annoys me how I cant be white and have dreads, my mate just spouts ignorance, and thinks they just grow out! Alex
only my parents ever said anything likje that think about every possitive responce u get dont they way outnumber the negative?
I find that most people don't like dreads, because most people don't understand it. With the myths about not washing your hair. Aswell as most people think its gross to not comb your hair. Along with the majority of people don't have them. So it another thing for insecure people to make fun of to make themselves feel better... Not saying that to be nice... its proven in psych that the reason people make fun of another person is so they feel good... But my beliefs on dreads(although i only have ONE right now) is to have them to say FUCK YOU to everyone and that you don't have to look a certian way to be a certian person. Ex Im a psych student and im growing dreads... To most people that wouldnt normally match up.
people of all races grow dreads. it's a known fact. if someone doesn't like me because of my hair, then I don't need them in my life anyways. whenever I get stupid questions about washing and whatnot, I just toy with them and tell them all I do is make sure I don't get bugs living in them. that tends to turn them off of learning more.
hahgaha i guess when ppl ask why i have dreasds i can treally gross em out and say cause i was tired of spending money on tiolet paper...lol
yeah thanks guys,im guna ignore it.i agree they dont know one thing bout dreads and are very ignorant too and very closed minded unfortunatly.
haha! i've heard of women using them as pads/tampons during their period and just washing them out... dunno if that was rumor or true... but yeah... just ignore it all. i've been fortunate enough that no one has given me hate cause of my dreads. i get a lot of people asking questions, because they really don't know. and a lot of people ask if i wash my hair. i say of course i do!!! lol... but seriously, the black people (i used to live in a mostly black ghetto) are always the ones who are most encouraging to my dread process! they're like all "yeah sistah, lovely locks!" lol... might be cause i have a ghetto booty too, but lol, it's all cool! just love your locks, be proud of them, and if people give you hate, just smile at them and know that their ignorance and anger can't touch you. you've got a spiky helmet of dreads to protect you!
I can still remember I how I convinced this drunk idiot in my town centre that I rub weed in my hair to make it dread! LMFAO!
Everyone I talk to kinda likes em I guess^^ but I'm in art school and I hang with weird people like myself When I was still in high school people used to say I had drugs in my hair (WTH) and they were dirty and I looked like a homeless person (I still dont get whats wrong with homeless people they are very wise and know much) and my dreads were like spiderlegs
