Albert Hofmann died from a heart attack on April 29, 2008 in the village of Burg im Leimental, near Basel, Switzerland. He was 102. Hoffman was known for being the creator and first official tester of LSD, known for his infamous bike ride. Hofmann called LSD "medicine for the soul" and was frustrated by the worldwide prohibition that has pushed it underground. Through his interest in hallucinogenics he researched mushrooms and psilocybin. He also discovered that the active compound in morning glories is LSA, a close but distant cousin. A true progressive for his time, Hofmann will be missed by us all.
The Psychedelic Spotlight has always shined brightest on Mr. Hoffman. His was a life well lived, and well worth living. R.I.P. Respect.
Can't be mad or sad, but glad that a life force such as himself existed, nobody lives a life as we know it forever, but I see he will never go away in love, bless his soul.
the godfather dyin was a special time indeed for me because i was trippin at the time of his death and it was a profound experiance. i swear i saw his angelic appearance in the mist above a dam. it was very mind numbing. forever remembered R.I.P.
Hofmann created nothing he "accidentally" dosed himself with an organic alkaloid. The chain reaction occurs . .
Well I guess all substances exist in theory before they are first synthed, but he created what acid is today and he will always be remembered for it. I haven't seen that pic before. I like it.
I'm saddened to hear of his death, but to live 102 years and change the world for the better is about as good as it gets.
Major fucking buzzkill... This is like when everyone is high and talking aqbout some random, philosophical shit and the sober person chimes in and fucks up the moment. The Mushroom Man
