yes, oshinn has an etsy site, it's the same as her username on here. i bought a tam from her, and it's beautiful. yes, you can get it wet in the shower every day if you want to. but if you don't want to, just tie it up and it won't get as wet. that's what i do, cause my dreads take forever to dry. right at the beginning they won't, but yeah. and if you're used to washing your hair daily, you might wanna wash it every 2 days or so and then every 3 days, and then every 4, until you get it down to a week, cause that'll keep it cleaner for the dreading process. that's what i did at least, cause i washed every day, and it got GROSS after 2 days. which is not good for the dreading process. so tapering down slowly works pretty well.
so i washed my hair today with the dr bronners so dont wash it until friday then wash it sunday and so on...? also how long will it take for me to start to get at least one dread you think ?
yeah, that's kinda how i did it. whatever FEELS right to you. it all depends on your hair. i didn't do natural, so i can't even say for myself. but it shouldn't take long for it to at least start separating itself out into different strands and such.
depends some yake weeks others mionths ive seen sme dread in days but most ppl goiun naturalshould expect it to rake monmths
umm what doi u meanb if u get the lyuquid and dilute it 12 partdss water 1 partsoap its still plenty soapy just thinner easier to rince if i mean pitre liguidd as in no floating chunks or dead floes floatung in it then yea u want it luiquid..im not sure i understand the quistion tho is it ok that a lyuquid soap remains a luiquid aftrer diluting with another thinner liquid.. ymm ya thats fine
yeah its not chunky at at all its like pretty pure. should i add more bronner's to make it more soapy ?
I don't mean to sound patronizing, but dude, you're stressing out too much! Take a breather. No one knows all the answers because no one has your hair. Everyone's hair is different, everyone's hair dreads differently, everyone reacts to different products differently. Some people may accidentally come across as gurus, or that XYZ product works for EVERYONE and that it's the only product you should use (I'm thinking Dr. Bronner's here). But you have to find out what works for you. Backcombing or natural? Bronner's or something else? Palm rolling or neglect? Beads or tams? You get it. And it's okay to experiment. Try one thing, then decide if it's right for you or not. It's hard to determine if something is working for you if you've never had dreads and don't really know what the "right" results should be. You just have to let go and trust your instincts. I put up with Dr. Bronner's for WEEKS because I thought it was the best, the one and only. It wasn't, not for my hair. And you know what? That's okay. I don't use it anymore and my dreads are better than ever. Like I said, everyone's hair is different. Chill and enjoy the process. Your hair WILL dread. I promise. Promise, promise, promise.
EXCELLENT!!! :cheers2: you hit the nail on the head. no one way is the "right" way to do dreads. only the right way for you. which may be a mix of methods, different things that people suggest. just let it ride, and it will be all fine! neglect method takes time and patience. it will happen when it's ready to happen. EDIT: i appologize right here and now if i ever come across as a guru, accidentally or otherwise. i SO don't know everything about dreads!!
i know next to othing and thats all i ever needed to know for the 1st 16 years (18 if u ynclude 1st set) the sum of my dread knowledge could be summd up asthis dint comb=dreads wverything else including backcombing i neverr heard if tll i came here i know alotta dreadies too and can only think of 2 or 3 i know who probly backcombed the rest were natural..well maybe a few more now that ive met here n thrre more recently if i evrer lost this set and hadta start iver wouldnt change a thing..it wss just so effortless and reaxing and worry free time has a way of distorting itself but it seemed to me like i stuck in a few beads and hair wtaps and twiddkled with it a few days and woke up 1 morn with dreds..it reall seemed so shrt looing back i think the most frustrsatingpart wss when beeds kept fallin out in the shower.. but 30 sec later they were put back and the frustration forgitten it maybe was acouple months till i ws walking down thge street and got my 1st nice dreads coimment at thetime i bet it seemed like awhile biy now lookung back it feels like i stuck in the beeds and dreads happened almost overnuight but i've always lived in a time warp..like the 90's barely fely like 3 years
