This album has gotten rave reviews and a lot of attention since it was released last week. What does everyone think? I personally love it, but i still like Return To Cookie Mountain just as much.
I think it's great. A bit more funk based than Return To Cookie Mountain and it doesnt seem to have the same sort of dreamy sounscapes that their Young Liars EP and their Desperate Youth album had, but I still think it's a great step foward for the band. The first 3 songs have great range. Going from sharp post punk, all the way through funk to a bit of hip hop. That's what I love about those guys: They can cover so much musical ground, and still make a coherent album. My only complaint, is that Dear Science seems to be missing some of the amazing vocal harmonies that their earlier records had, which is a shame. Still, it's only a minor complaint. You cant have everything, and Dear Science really delivers.
