Hey guys I just backcombed 2 days ago and I was wondering that if beads would help the hair stay in shape better and lock up? For ex. if I put a bead at the tip of each dread would it keep it from totally falling out? Or maybe a bead at the root and the tip? Anyone have any experience with beads in newly backcombed hair?

I put beads in my hair when they weren't knotted at all and newly backcombed. I put them towards the roots or at the middle, and would move them now and then. I took them out once I felt the dreads locking up more, and only had them in so my sections would stay in place.

It can't hurt, but it's really all about preference.

i had beads in for a while after i backcombed. it didn't really help or hurt i think. everything under the beads didn't dread though, so you should probably move them around a bit unless you don't care if there are undreaded chunks in the hair.

my dreads are pretty long, so i have spots that pull up a bit and cause a little bend, so i put a bead on that for a few days and when i move it the bump flattened out or just locked to the rest of the dread... but like Nakedtreehugger said, if you dont move the bead ever it wont really help. good luck

Ok, thanks alot guys for all the advice. And one more quick question, about how long did it take for your frizz to calm down? lol. Im handling everything really well but the frizz cracks me up everytime I look in the mirror. You cant really see it that well but heres a pic of them at day 4.

i get my hands wet every morning and smooth the frizz down (you know, rub your wet hands down the hair) frizz will always be there, at certian times more than others, i noticed alot of frizz in the first few months then it calmed down a bit
