folks who dislike rap in general- do you feel this way because a. no particular reason, you just don't like it b. "it isn't music" c. it celebrates a culture of violence, shallow materialism and objectification of women d. it's just a couple of guys talking over a beat and therefore requires no talent e. you're white and think white people who listen to rap are wiggers trying to be something they're not f. some of it is ok, but not the commercial top 40 stuff g. you're at an age where you think even bothering to listen to rap would be ridiculous and an indication of a mid-life crisis h. other (please specify)
Because it's all corporate. Slavery under a different name. White elite at the top...lil Wayne at the bottom...MY PEOPLE MY PEOPLE...MY LIFE!
I use to listen to plenty of hip hop (was my favorite genre for a while...before I meet my lover Ragga). Conscious music of any form I enjoy, and for that specific reason I cannot stand 99% of hip hop/rap these days. I have a lot of "underground" hip hop that is conscious, but the entire genre is so tanted that I honestly can't really listen to hop hop/rap for more than 10 minutes any more. There's just soooooo much better music out there, I guess that's the deciding factor for me. It is generalizing, but if I wanted to here someone talk about how cool they are, how much money they have and how many "bitches" they've fucked I'd have just stayed at the private school I was forced to go to.
you didn't hear the story about when they were on tour and HR asked the singer of the Big Boys to cop weed for them, but when HR found out he was gay he fucked up the guy's house and left a note saying "burn in hell bummaclot faggot"? of course, maybe they don't feel that way anymore.
