i just joined. i never knew there could be so many amazing people in one place. i'm going to use it next spring, we are planning a giant expedition. someone already asked to crash at our place, haha. it wouldnt be the first time someone we met over the internet crashed here...
A couple of friends of mine did it quite a lot in the UK. I have heard some great stories. I am really shy though and all the couch surfing people seem really outgoing and crazy so I prefer to camp in the woods or pay for a room if I have to travel.
i'm so excited! i wanna join too. this is the coolest idea ever. maybe we can afford to travel some soon, doing it this way! and if we can do this for other people, we can meet people from all over the place, lol!
yeah, i just dont wana spend the $$ to camp a week in wherever i go! i might as well live in my stupid apartment! but i imagine we will camp, too...
yeah! karma points! we have space for many in our place right now so we are going to have some people stay first. prettymuch all we will pay for is gas and food, and we plan to pay for some of it by playing music gigs!
Are you going with your boyfriend? I would definitely do it. I have heard so many good stories...the people are often willing to show you around, feed you, get you drunk. There are also things listed like legal protests where you can camp for free. Its a really good concept and it works as far as I know. I just would prefer to know someone in real life before I stayed at their home, but I am a little wussy.
you know, when we made our big long trip across the country, we were wishing we had planned ahead a little more, and made arrangements to meet up with some of you guys from hip on the way out here. we were trying to make it a straight shot, but we so didn't... we could have made some small detours and met up with some cool people. too bad we didn't know about couch surfing then.
I discovered CS this summer when I had already been across the USA, too... lol I am grateful for these people.
seriously, this would have been SO useful. we were planning to go from va to ca in 5 days or less, and it ended up taking us 3 weeks because we had car trouble. we spent 3 weeks in different hotels!!! woulda saved us some moneys imma thinkin!!!
