Hi guys, A friend of mine gave me a few mushrooms, he said they were amanita muscarias. Can anyone please tell me if these are amanitas? Sorry for the image quality i only had my phone.
While it is extremely hard to identify a mushroom from pictures, especially if it is dried, this DOES look like an amanita, but don't risk your life on 1 opinion. The Mushroom Man
actually it would be better, in my oppinion, to ask and see what people think, and then go and research teh matter and determine it for yourself. Better to know than to pay someone else to know
umm, find a mycologist, local or anywhere.. and email them a pic and ask.. dont worry ive done it before, with many mushrooms.. better to be sure then to be dead..
It's red, it has spots, tell me, is there any other mushroom in the world that fits that description? I say it is Amanita Muscaria. Worst case scenario it is Panthera, which is like Muscaria but more potent. Sure in mychology the last thing you look at is the colour, but there is sereosly no other mushroom that is red with white spots.
I've seen dried amanita muscarias and they look just like that. quite the menacing little bugger....grind them up and put them in the sunshine for a day or two...
yea but man, mushrooms can be risky.. i agree with everyone though, from the cap, it does look like amanita muscaria, i wouldnt touch it though unless i grew it or i was absolutely positive about it's species

Thanks for the reply guys. I ate half of whats there in the pictures, nothing much happened. I have tripped on shrooms twice before, I was expecting more from these.. I guess looks doesn't matter.
Fuck those! Me and some friends bought a pound for 400, and i ate at least 3/4 an ounce and felt nothing but sick. Don't trust that ethnobotanicals shit, you won't trip. If you want a real trip off of the internet then find a good rc site. Which I'm still trying to find, if anyone can help, please pm me!! Thanks
elephantos.com has almost anything you could ask for, but if you live in the US, you are not going to get much from them. (I am from South Africa, so they ship almost anything to me.)
Dude, you will trip off that. It might not be fun, but you have to cook it first. When you cook it, it converts the ibotenic acid into muscimol, which is the stuff that makes you trip. Be careful though, 'cause the stuff is hard to dose. I wont ever eat amanitas, cause when I did, I ate too much and it was just like, crazy delerium for 8 hours, but if I did, I'd dose carefully. It's not like regular shrooms though, so don't expect it to be. It makes you all disoriented and crazy. Look it up on erowid if you don't know the effects.
