aha nice vid man. I have been boarding 6 years but all of our hills here suck. Where are ya from that you have gondolas? I was at Apex in BC last winter which was alright but still wasn't that big (about 1/3rd whistler). I'll get some pics of my gear tomorrow...getting to that time of year where I need to round it up again anyways.
Nice I live on the east coast and ski magic mtn in Vt alot. I usually take a week out to Utah to ski alta snowbird and solitude every winter though. Heres some shots of my home mtn during the winter: Its a sweet little mountain, no lift lines, no crowds on the trails, its all classic old school new england style terrain with minimal grooming and snowmaking, I love this mountain as far as east coast skiing is concerned.
And heres a vid I made of my brother and I skiing last winter at Solitude UT, I'm in the orange jacket. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SkO5KmSP-WA
They usually start opening around november, I get a pass to two different mountains. I get a twighlight pass to Jiminy peak which is a medium sized mtn about 40 min from me so I can ski a few nights a week after work, they usually open the end of November or early Dec at the latest. Then I get a season Pass to Magic Mtn and head up there on a saturday or sunday its about 1.5 hrs from me, they usually open in December some time once they have enough time to either blow some snow on some trails or get a good snowfall to get the mtn open.
skiing always looked fun but seeing as i live in arkansas theres not much good skiing territory around here....
Yeah I would hate living away from winter, I am so accustomed to making the best out of a snowy situation that moving to a warm climate isnt appealing to me. People always think thats wierd when I am smiling during a blizzard in the middle of February, while they are swearing at it.
i snowboard but im not very good at it. im learning and so far i love it. i only need two more things before im fully ready this year. A helmet and a pair of boots. i need the helmet because when i went last year, there was this big icy area i didnt see coming and i slipped and my head landed so hard on the ice. it sucked. i dont have health insuarance this year so i have to be careful. do you guys wear helmets?
I love both, but I stopped snowboarding for like 2 years and tried again and just lost it. I was good too though, I wish I was still as nice. I love it though, best winter sport besides hockey in my opinion, which is the best sport, also, in my opinion.
