We are the youth of amerika, we should make our voices heard. We do not like Bush, and Kerry is not a better candidate. Why are we ignored, why are the candidates ignoring us, because we do not vote, f*ck that. We need to make it know that we are a force to be recond with. I just think that it would be cool if we could start a revolution, and protest the white house, we all march down to Bush's front yard, which by the way keeps getting bigger, and make our selves know. Just like the Democratic National Convention of '68. How cool would it be if that would actually happen.
because that is how Abbie Hoffman spells it in "Steal this Book", and its a slap in the face to amerika
Ooooo--You're a bad-ass now. America isn't perfect, and the current administration sucks, but that's no reason not to acknowledge the fact that Americans are better off than anywhere else on Earth. And yes, there are European countries that have well-developed economies and a high standard of living, but if the American economy were to plummet, we'd take the whole world down with us. Hating America isn't going to improve it. BTW, Abbie Hoffman was a manic-depressive nutjob who advocated robbing innocent people and using guns and violence to overthrow the government. Get some original ideas.
I love protests, in late aug my boyfriend and I went to NY for the protest going on there for the national republican convetion, it was beautiful. Its amazing protests arnt just a hippy thing anymore, there were old and young, and people from different races and religions, We were all a big family. There were over 500,000 people there. Anyways were thinking about going down to dc if bush wins, hopefully we will go. I must admit though i don't like kerry much better!
I agree, voting is for pussies. Yeah, how cool would it be if we all got our faces smashed in. I mean, that would fucking rule.
Ah, but if the aisan eocnomy plummeted, we would just be fine? I think you are putting america up on a bit of a pedestal. There are plenty of great countries around the globe. And plenty where a person may be just as well off or better.
I think Strawberry was comparing the US to European nation in that post, not the entire world. Sure, there are a few major nations on the planet that really fuel the global economy, and America is one of them. China, India, Indonesia, and Japan are all up there as well, but none of them would have nearly as powerful an impact as us if they collapsed tommorow.
Well if you find in any of my post on the hipforums saying "I hate america" then we can talk about that.
Amerika can also be spelled like that if you name your child. Can change c to k in anything when naming to make it feel unique ...oh and PEACE! Not War! Fire the Liar! Down with Bush!
Actually, I've never seen you around these forums until recently. Strawberry Fields makes some great posts, unlike your flame-filled personal attacks. If anyone should leave, its you. Way to not answer the question. How is hating America going to change anything? How is bitching about the "republicrats" going to make anything better?
um, i believe it's because he has the opportunity to choose his own name, and that was the name he gave for himself.
I am disturbed by several of the posts here. It seems that some of the people here who are proudest of being hippies are also adept at hating others. Republicans, people who vote for them, America, Amerika, even some others on this forum are hated by these vehement hippies. I have always thought that the core of being a hippy is love. Rather than rumbling through the differences between people and finding something worthy of hate, I prefer to search for something that I have in common with others and use that as a foundation for future love. Ultimatly, this requires that I admit that I might be wrong about some things. For example, a country where heath care depends on wealth may be better than one with free health care for everyone. I don't think so, but I need to admit the possibilty so that I can listen to those who disagree with me. (There is a difference between listening to understand and listening to reload.) Focusing on what one can hate about other leads to a feeling of superiority and a willingness to compell others to do what one sees as the right thing, against their will, "for their own good." The search for commonality and understanding is more important than being right. If I try to understand others, they will be open to understanding me. The result will be all of us passing through error together and, using our combined strengths, finding the correct solution to living together.
