Soo.. I was wondering if you guys could complete a short questionnaire for me, its just about nuclear power for our Physics lesson. Q.1 Do you know about the current amount of nuclear power in your country? Q.2 Do you think Nuclear power is a good idea/thing? Q.3 Would you rather have nuclear power, from fossil fuels or renewable? Q.4 What are, in your opinion, the downsides of nuclear power? Q.5 What are, in your opinion, the benefits of nuclear power? Thanks. It is greatly appreciated.
1. i don't know 2. its a great thing 3. i guess renewable? fossil fuels are cool to if it can be made clean 4. i don't see any downsides 5. takes little to make more
Q.1 Do you know about the current amount of nuclear power in your country? A little but my info is a few years old and may be out of date. Q.2 Do you think Nuclear power is a good idea/thing? Yes when used properly and the faciities are well-maintained Q.3 Would you rather have nuclear power, from fossil fuels or renewable? I think at this point its better to look at alternatives. Q.4 What are, in your opinion, the downsides of nuclear power? melt downs and radioactive waste. Those are the only 2 negatives but they're both biggies. Q.5 What are, in your opinion, the benefits of nuclear power? No need for fossil fuels in producing power. It can be a more efficient and cost effective method of power production.
1) nope 2) sure it is 3) i'm not informed enough to say 4) waste, and the danger of meltdown. not informed enough to say if there's others 5) it's power, and i don't think it uses fossil fuels. again, i'm not really informed though. sounds more like a sociology project than physics...
Q.1 Do you know about the current amount of nuclear power in your country? i know there are over 100 nuclear power plants in the us. i dont know an exact number or locations, though. Q.2 Do you think Nuclear power is a good idea/thing? i think it is a rather poor idea in the long run. Q.3 Would you rather have nuclear power, from fossil fuels or renewable? renewable of course. who would choose otherwise, except for oil tycoons and the people who own/run powerplants? Q.4 What are, in your opinion, the downsides of nuclear power? the risk of disaster is much greater than with other forms of energy. while generally safe practices are observed, if something goes wrong it can be devastating. further, no genuinely safe method of disposal for nuclear waste has been demonstrated. Q.5 What are, in your opinion, the benefits of nuclear power? it does not generally result in the same airborn pollutants that fossil fuels create.
1. I think in the U.S., it's under 20% now. In France, it's over 50%. 2. I think nuclear power is not only good but essential; 3. Nuclear power; 4. Nuclear waste disposal; 5. Nuclear power is the most effective and the only form of energy that will be able to sustain the world's population growth over the long-term. Nuclear technology is improving by leaps and bounds both in terms of safety hazards, and experiementation with nuclear fusion (as opposed to fission) which might resolve the nuclear disposal problem in the future.
No bloody idea We were doing about light. Then radiation. Then Beta Decay. Then we got this assignment. uhh.. our physics teacher sucks anyway.. I mean he doesn't notice when we dont do the hwk. But i feel bad if i consciously decide not to do it.
Q.1 Do you know about the current amount of nuclear power in your country? Not specifically but I know that big oil has helped fund environmental movements opposed to nuclear power and I'm sure we all know (or strongly suspect) why. Hint: it has absolutely nothing to do with the environment Q.2 Do you think Nuclear power is a good idea/thing? It can be if conscientiously managed. Q.3 Would you rather have nuclear power, from fossil fuels or renewable? Renewable first, nukes second, and feeding the fortunes of the demonstrably greedy and inextricably politically connected dead last Q.4 What are, in your opinion, the downsides of nuclear power? Accidents involving radiation are bad bad bad. Disposing of spent fuel rods is a major problem and can be burdensome politically. The underhanded way that communities are slickered into having dumps, prisons, shopping malls, and other manner of undesirable use of real estate suggests that the waste would be handled in a less than honorable manner Q.5 What are, in your opinion, the benefits of nuclear power? It affords an option to add potentially inexpensive energy to the grid and removing the money grubbing meat hooks of big oil from our economy and making actions like the war in Iraq politically unnecessary (weapons of mass destruction- my ass!). Don't expect for nukes or renewables to emerge any time soon though... big oil's global scale grand larceny is being aided and abetted by criminal governments, including the United States, by foot dragging on supporting alternatives and putting no teeth in fuel economy requirements of automakers. We're even being programmed by the advertisements to favor a standard of efficiency that is decades out of date. Watch the numbers on some of the ads for passenger cars that promote efficiency as a selling point. Part of the problem is that not enough people are getting pissed of enough to do anything. Until people start acting in large enough numbers expect nothing to change.
