...of Barnes and Noble They have a 14 day, no questions asked return policy for books. I can read a book in under 14 days. Score.
A library can do the same thing for you and a lot of them will give you 3 weeks instead of the two at B&N, plus you can renew your checkout for a total of a month and a half.
but a brand new book has special appeal. I would never do that coz its kind of wrong. I never buy a book unless I love it, and if I dont, I circulate it amongst my firnds and it always finds a home. I love buying books.
I couldn't even tell you how many books I have moved outside of barnes and noble and never returned, just passed the on to friends, who've passed them onto friends... they're too expensive. flame me.
Fuck Barnes and Noble. We're not talking about poor independent shop keepers here. Why should information be available only to those with money? They are insanely over priced.... and it's easy. Book stores have lax security and the staff usually respect people's wishes to be left alone to browse....
Um...wow, ok...I take it you've never heard of a library or any part of the internet other than this site (a site which btw also gives a crap load of free info)
The library is a 20 minute bike ride in shitty traffic. B&N is just across the street. It's borrowing, not stealing.
I don't think there's anything wrong with that. It's like previewing the book, if you love it you'll keep it, if not you'll bring it back and try again. In my area B&N has a much better selection than the local library. eace:
I also don't think there is anything wrong with stealing them. I don't think there is anything wrong with stealing ANY overpriced, mass-produced good. It's not a moral question at all.
bs. I am honest. I've stolen hundreds of books and passed them on to friends who pass them and so on. I'm spreading knowledge that would have cost thousands of dollars...but I don't have that money....and I Honestly do not care to give that company my green paper tickets that I can acquire food with...I guess I'm like a Pirate, except for knowledge. Maybe I am dishonest. BooHoo
Exactly. It's not as though we're talking about a real person who's going to miss it. Fuck, people criticize me for anthropomorphizing, but how does it reflect on our culture if we consider corporations to be people? It's not dishonest. Besides, I prefer the term shoplifting.
If that is dishonesty then I I don't see anything wrong with being dishonest. If that is dishonesty than dishonesty is a virtue. Werner Herzog himself stole the camera to shoot his first film. I think he understood this in the same way I do.
The way I see it There is knowledge in this building all I am doing is moving the knowledge around the Earth it's a good thing, if you ask me.
If I didn't "borrow" the book, I wouldn't read it. And I'm sure the author would much rather me read it for free than never read it.
green paper tickets - hahahaha! i agree with you totally. i can't feel any sympathy for huge corporations loosing money.
