SECRETS, that is what I need. I am prepaing to start my first batch of seeds and I sure want to do it right, they cost$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$!!!! I will appreciate any advice. My big question is to sprout first and then to transplant to my mix or to plant seed direcly into mix. I have read the books, etc. Looking for practcal advise. All tips would be majorly appreciated.
I usually put them in a coffee filter, twist it up, and put it upside down in a little bowl of water- so the seeds are not underwater, but they stay wet from water traveling up the filter. AS long as there is water in the bowl it will keep seeds moist enough.Keep on top of you refridgerator where it is warm for them. after 24 hours , or even overnight, you can put them in the ground, the part of the seed that was attached to the plant should be pointing up.If the root pops out make sure your very careful and gentle, pint it down when you plant it. I usually get the best erm rate soaking them overnight and popping them in the dirt next day sprouted or not
I always sprout them, but only to make sure I'm not wasting space. Place the sprouted seeds gently in a hole just deep enough to cover it. It would be nice if the root was pointed down, but it's niethier critical nor practical.
the best advice I have to offer is to submurge them in water. When you first put them in they will float. But when you wake up in the morning they should be at the bottom. If not give them a little push and theyll fall to the bottom. If they dont sink no matter what keep them in until they do. This means that the seed is starting to open up and water is getting inside the seed and sinking. Then just plant them......
oh and im not very experienced so dont take my word for what I just said, but I would suggest taking one seed and trying a meathod and if it works do it to the rest of them. Peace
