    dilligaf, I must say I was very surprised to hear you say this.

    Typical, per-usual American thinking is out of sight out of mind. If it don't bother me this instant then why worry?

    This attitude is why our planet is in such crisis.

    Everyone in the US is responsible for the trash in the Pacific. Most of it is small plastics that make up our everyday comforts (lighters, combs, toothbrushes...etc).

    There are several species that are endangered directly from the trash that cycles about in the Pacific.

    disgusting, but look at the bright side in 100 years everything except the plastics and metals will decompose it'll eventually sink and will make one hell of an artificial reef

    ... i guess you're right... at least when it comes to reefs animals are very good at adapting and making neat little soda can homes, but still that's not the point... we're littering the ocean with trash, plastics, artificial crap!
