So I discovered a bad a few days ago called Ensiferum. Apparently they are considered 'folk metal'. Is anyone here a fan of this genere, and can you maybe point me to some other bands?

Try Turisas and Einherjar (can't remember if I spelled that last one correctly).

You're welcome! Oh, and although it's not exactly folk metal, you should check out Haggard as well, if you like folk you might like them.

Thanks Arlandis and GoR. Actually was able to take in a live performance of Ensiferum this past weekend at an Amon Amarth show. They, along with Amon Amarth, fucking rocked.

Finntroll, Moonsorrow and Otyg are some good ones. Falkenbach is good indeed. Also check out Storm - Nordavind. Cruachan, irish folk metal. I prefer bands like Thyrfing, Einherjer and so on, but it's often between folk and black metal. Don't know if you like that.

Where I live, in Estonia, folk metal is quite popular. Well, quite the same part of the world as Finland.

I'm not really a fan so I don't know much about it... Metsatöll is the best-known here. And Raud-Ants. These bands usually sing in our own language but maybe you might still be interested...

For some romanian folk-rock you should check out phoenix,i think they are called transylvania phoenix outside of romania.it's an older band who has a bit of a living legend status here, they where forced by the communist regime to draw their inspiration from folklore after they became to "occidental" for those times.

They might not be your cup of the though since i saw ui enjoy negura bunget but it never hurts to try...

Fintroll is pretty good, they kind of crack me up, but all in all a good sound.
