When I was a kid I had this abstract fantasy of going to Austrailia...specifically a town/city called Wallagong for some reason. Has anybody been there? What's it like...?
You don't mean Wollongong? I cannot think why you would want to go there unless it was to meet someone specifically.
I had no expectations. I have no idea why I wanted to go here when I was a kid...I just thought of it today.
LOL That's hilarious! I was simply curious about the place because I saw the Aus forum. My childhood dreams were to be a nascar racer, or an archeologist, or work for the ATF (shit you not) fucking shatter them all you want, PLEASE!
nascar racer? ATF??boy have you changed.. i dont remember my childhood dreams so i guess your one up on me...
unfortunately, I do. It's amazing, looking back, I can see how every single thing I ever knew was a lie, propaganda...it's pretty scary because I know there are millions of people who never broke free from that...
Woolongong has been in the news in Australia (NSW) recently because of a massive corruption scandal in the local government, whereby hot shot property developers were shagging council town planners, so as to gain approval for property projects that should never have been approved. This is interesting because of the following reasons: - It's the first statewide news story coming out of Woolongong since 2002 when it was announced that the Port Kembla district - home to a huge steel smelter - was the most heavily polluted region in the country. - It's only the second story I can remember to come out of Woolongong that doesnt involve a murder suicide over drug money.....well, actually, if you count the time their rugby league team (the Illawarra Steelers) merged with the (Sydney based) St. George Dragons, it's the third. - It seems that there actually are people in Woolongong worth having sex with.... You can read part of the story here: http://www.smh.com.au/news/national...-and-greed-saga/2008/10/08/1223145446463.html This article is a satire, and it was written two years ago, but it's still pretty close to the mark: http://www.chaser.com.au/content/view/3025/231/ Edit: Not really. There are some really nice parts of the Illawarra, but Woolongong itself....
Yeah it's an Ok Place with some real friendly people. A lot of places in Oz just like that too, thats why I moved here. Pete
Well, if you wanna see a REALLY "absurd" place in OZ just roam over to Darwin.....I assure you the 'Gong IS NOT the worst town in the country. Don't let the others detour your dreams...they're only jealous of the beauty of Wollongong.
