Rarely, very very very rarely. Most of the time it ends ups in one partner getting very jealous, and then the realtionship falls to bits.
from what I understand, there is an open relationship couple here on the forums and it seems to work out quite well for them.... I personally don't believe it can work for the majority of couples, and don't understand how the picture that stalk posted is relevant to the question

I'm a poly, and it works for us, but it does rarely work to have more than two people in a relationship. Most people end up getting jealous (what sarahrei said).
thanks everyone. we are going to try it and see how it goes. at this time in my life i think it could work or end horribly, horribly badly LOL
