We, currently, are the only intelligent life in the universe that we know of. Most of us, especially in the scientific community, consider evolution a scientific truth. It's commonly accepted that we are the product of millions of years of changes and adaptation in evolution. The thought I had today was, could there evolve another intelligent form of life here on earth, and if it could, could humans do anything to further it along. Perhaps one thing we could do for this "experiment" in evolution, is breed a certain animal. Maybe a fox, or some kind of reptile, find a way to test and scan it's level of "intellect" and only breed those with high brain activity. While this would take a long time to develop, is it possible that after years and years of selective breeding could we humans literally play God and create another intelligent being? Just a thought, but don't hesitate input
Actually they breed bacteria to show genetic mutation. it can evolve faster than anything more complex. This is exactly how anyone involved with the study of evolution can know the truth of its precepts
I see what you mean, but I was thinking of a way we could literally evolve a new species with an intellect similiar to our own. Not bacteria, not insects, not animals, but another creature conscious of itself. I believe it would be hard and take millenia, because there is no real way we know of to furthering the evolution of consciousness. But over time, with our own intelligent selection could it be possible to breed intelligence? This is all purely speculative of course.
maybe if we tried to breed intelligent animals they would think we were crazy - after all an animal only needs a place to sleep and food - its humans that are unintelligent Intelligence is merely the ability to gather information relative to survival and to make use of that data. How unintelligent was it to start believing that we should create automotive industries and aeroindustries etc We had a choice, manual agriculture or machinery and cities - we lost the game
