yeah it's all about language and semantics... personally, I don't like the world hallucinogenic drug. Nor do I like "Drug" in general because you can lump TOO MANY substances into that category. Psychedelic is a cool word... I work with psychedelic medicines, I don't do hallucinogenic drugs.
Yeh the words are crap. They are drugs but when you say drugs you refer to so many things that are so different to psychedelics. This forum, for example, is called 'psychedelics' but most of these drugs are no psychedelic in the way that Tryptamines and Phenylethylamines are. These drugs are known as hallucinogens but this title is more appropriately given to deleriants, which themselves are an entirely different class to serotonergic psychedelics (trypts and phens)
only certain chemicals are classified under psychedelic, like bill said, the phenethylamines and the tryptamines.
Hallucinogens are a group of drugs that includes sub-groups, including psychedelics and deleriants. Psychedelics and deleriants are just two different classifications of hallucinogens. That's the way I always looked at it anyway. lol
Ya I like psychedelic the best. My friends and I started using entheogen but it just doesn't roll off your tongue. Plus my one friend is an atheist so she didn't like it.
Everything is god manifesting therefore everything is entheogenic? I've always just thought entheogen was a word for sacred medicine... that would be interesting if you were right, Mania. atheists are like dead-ends.
The word refers to spiritually used substances but the root of the word actually refers to god sort of in a loose way, like 'good' does or something. Its some energy that is divine and inspiring and blossoming. To the greeks who used the words, the Gods were their explanation for these qualities
