Ever been to demonstrations and seen police officers videotaping the crowd? Ever wondered what they did with that footage? Take a look at this documentary and you'll see... Part 1 (6mins) http://fr.youtube.com/watch?v=YeEsIm-V1ZA Part 2 (6mins) http://fr.youtube.com/watch?v=QqiiHxQjTa8 So remember, next time you go to a protest to exercise your right to free speech, be sure to cover your face and body well so they can't identify you. In fact, Crimethinc even released an article dealing with the subject which you can find here: http://www.crimethinc.com/blog/2008/10/11/fashion-tips-for-the-brave/
But the flip side of that is we can now film the police too. Gotta think positive dude. It cuts both ways if you let it. x
Believe it or not, its for your benefit as much as it is theirs. Tape will prove or disprove things like police brutality in court. While it may be used against you if you break the law, it can also be used against the police if they break the law. Not a bad thing really. Rodney King would be just another beat up black dude in LA if somebody hadn't caught his beating on tape. x
Yeah, well I don't think the police care enough about protestors to stand around and video tape them. Just my opinion.
On the surface it would seem to me that the point is so that if anyone "gets out hand", police will have evidence to prosecute them. On the ulterior side of things though, I think the goal is to identify political dissenters and people who might be considered potential threats to the state and start spying on them. Take a look at the vid again, see how they pick out individual details on a person's body, what they're wearing? This isn't just so police can document a protest for archives. I think this is part of a plan to keep all political activists and anyone else who publicly questions the current system under file for who knows what reasons. Face it, the american police state IS here. Maybe it's not obvious when you look out your window, but if you examine how police are trained to handle demonstrations it becomes very clear. As a matter of fact, I read not too long ago that the Bush administration will be deploying a military brigade to the east coast of the united states, trained in crowd control. Won't be too long now until they start dragging us off to the camps...
Is not about opinion, its about fact. Ive been to protests and yes, they film. Even at peaceful, small ones
they are watching us and are keeping tabs of who the dissenters are. Trust me, they're not just video taping for evidence, they're keeping records of us... who to look out for, who to destroy.
