I have a bottle of Lyrica 100mg (um, I think) and wondered if anyone has ever taken it and what it's like. I am on 3 controlled substances (dr knows about all of them) and don't want to mix, but I'm willing to put these down if the Lyrica is good.
My mother takes it for Fibromyalgia. It isn't recreational at all, IMO, it's for Neuropathic pain, it's not anything like an opiate, and neither are the effects. Some people claim it has some recreational value, but I personally think they are worthless, recreationally anyways, they are good for the disease they are prescribed for though.
I appreciate your response and am sorry to hear that your mother has fibromyalgia. They were prescribed to me for post-surgery pain. I've had quite a few surgeries in the past few years and they have me on an opioid, Lyrica and ibuprofen. I also have a prescribed amphetamine and a benzo; I hate the benzo and take it only when necessary. I used to take the amphetamine daily, but only take it here and there now because I am hesitant to mix. My dr's know about all of my Rx's... is it common to be prescribed that many controlled substances at once?
Depending on the doctor, but it's not uncommon. Just make sure that none of the prescriptions have any interactions with the others, which is a question you can ask the pharmacist when picking your scripts up.
People seem to have mixed opinions when it comes to lyrics. I personally have found them to be good. They give me an almost drunken feeling. Although I have only done lyrics twice. The last time I did it, my brother's friend just gave one to me for free because he didn't know what it was and only does stuff he's familiar with. I told him what it was and that it was still good but he insisted he didnt want it. It was only one pill though so I just sniffed the powder inside. Lyrica has been called a super-neurontin by some people. I have done both lyrics and neurontin and find lyrica to be alot better. While both have recreational value for me, I find lyrica actually alters my state whereas neurontin just kind of puts me in a good mood, not really a "high."
Here is the erowid experience vault for lyrica, which oddly enough isn't linked to on erowid's page for lyrica. I found it on google. http://www.erowid.org/experiences/subs/exp_Pharms_Pregabalin.shtml
My mother was on Neuruontin for a while, and she does admit that Lyrica does seem to work better, but she says she feel absolutely NO feeling from taking either, and she was up to extremely high doses because of her disease. I have tried taking both of them, at higher dosages, with no result, other then maybe being a little drowsy, which seems to be the main effect. I wouldn't call that a "high," you can get that from Tylenol PM.
its not recreational at all.. you should read about the medicine before asking questions hehe first off, it can take up to a month to start working on pain in some patients i have been taking it for about 2-3 months, and i thought it was a joke.. or placebo.. when i first started taking it, it took about 3 weeks till i felt any pain relief.. but its not like a opiate pain killer.. doesnt just buzz you and give you pain relief.. it works on repairing nerves / damaged tissue/nerves over time, so you dont notice 'instant relief'. not a great medicine in my opinion, its only relieved minor pain from my back/shoulder
I appreciate all of your responses. I have done a little research on all of the meds, and I put them all in an interaction database. Perhaps I am not digging deep enough to get the answers I was looking for and that's why I asked. I'm sure you understand that some days you may need to take a little more of something than others; I just want to be safe while not wasting.
Ok, I was suprised to see someone talk about this med on here... My Doc gave it to me and told me to take it twice a day and that it would help with my klonopin, with my anxiety. What do any of you know about that mixture?
theres alot of story and controversy about lyrica and klonopin. check it out of google, search "lyrica and klonopin" but, if your doc gave it to you then you shouldnt worry at all.. if you do, ask him about it. for the record.. ive taken klonopin/valium's while on lyrica, and had no side effects.
There isn't much of an interaction. My mother is on Lyrica and Valium, with no problems. If you are worried, ask a pharmacist if there are any interactions.
I understand that if my doc gave it to me it is not dangerous or anything like that and I am not worried about it... but my question is, that my psychatrist said it would help with my anxiety, he said it was as good mixture with the Klonopin to do so, like it would boost the effects of the K-pin. I was wondering if anyone heard anything like this before?
seems odd for a doctor to talk about potentiating medications. reminds me of the time i got prescribed prozac and the doctor told me i could drink if i wanted to. seems odd for a doctor to tell his patients they can drink on their meds.
