This band is like a grandfather to all metal, along with Black Sabbath and Led Zeppelin, who also released albums in 1969. I really like his style of brainy yet fireworky guitar playing. Anyone else?
Ive often heard King crimson being cited as influential to modern progressive metal acts. But I havnt found the connection yet... I have heard "Islands" but did not enjoy it, But I did enjoy parts of "thrak" I will give 'red' a listen.
Islands is a VERY different album than most King Crimson....Islands is like progressive chamber music or something. If you're listening to Red after it, be prepared for a shock.
yea, King Crimson is a precursor to heavy metal, but King Crimson is definently progressive rock. All King Crimson albums have a particular feeling to them. My favorites would have to be Dicipline, Lizard, Construcktion of Light, and Red of course... Sartori in Tangier is possibly King Crimson's trippiest song... check it out.
