I just got myself 2 little Peyote plants. my first ones they should be about 6 months old or so. the guy i bought them from had them in quite a small pot and the roots have pretty much filled it up to capacity. does anybody know if it'd be reasonable to replant such young ones in a bigger pot right now in fall or would it be better to do it in spring?
to be honest i don't think the time of year matters. but probably you might want to wait until it has dried out a bit and replant it as far away from its last watering as possible to avoid shocking it. also make sure you have good soil to transplant in.
in FL, your probably fine....in colder areas shouldnt repot in winter. dry and warm and the things to have when repotting cacti.
yeah, FL is great in that respect. i've already replanted them and one (replanted 2 weeks ahead of the other) is noticeably bigger (or maybe the other has gotten smaller? anyway i found out they're 3 years old, and the guy kept these plants in a 2 X 2 inch pot all the time. for 3 years! they're rly small --> an inch+ across.
damn that's so ill i would give em just a little bigger pot and if it's winter it don't matter if you just keep them in your house while they adjust
