black dust on my bowl..

i have this clear red glass spiral bowl and its covered in black shit like dust but its kinda hard to wash off,NOT RESIN!!!
i could seriously use it as black halloween makeup..you cannot use resin as halloween makeup! this shit on the outside of my bowl you can!

lol i dident think there was a stoner who dident know what resin was..... but hey i learn something new everyday..... you can clean it out with a alcohol and salt soak

 

unless its really nasty, why not just leave it? personally i think it adds character to a piece and improves the smoke. and if youre ever dry and desperate to flee from reality you can smoke the resin

its not resin!! i was cleaning my bowl for resin like ive been doing for the past 4 months and its on the outside of my blowl...it might be affected by the flames but its nowhere near the screen....its hard to really explain the bowl its like a ZONG BOWL.

 

i shouldve mentioned it wasnt resin....im not even close to a beginner!

 

if you hold a lighter to glass it turns black and you can wipe it off
maybe you're burning that part of your bowl?

 

Oooh that's what that black shit is? I thought it was residual lighter fluid or something (especially since I always take the safeties off my lighter, I was afraid I had somehow fucked up the mechanism that determines how much gas to use per second). good to know I'm not coating my bud in flammable gas everytime I apply the lighter to it.

 

it sounds like carbon buildup from your lighter for sure. Take you lighter and hold it to the bottom of your bowl for a little bit with the flame touching and see if you can replicate the results.

 

I get that stuff on my pipes too, but I'm pretty sure it's just real old dried up resin.

if it's not carbon build up from the flame like stalk and skier said, maybe it is resin.

if you smoked resin outta that pipe, it could have bubbled and splattered and got little specs of resin on the outside of the bowl.

It's not unhealthy is it? I hate leaving the safety on because it always seems to lock up the flint and I wind up owning my thumb trying to get the lighter to work.

 

Im sure the whole process of inhaling smoke into your lungs is less healthy than a little bit of carbon.
