Dubai is now on my list of places not to visit.

I was just reading a fun article on BBC about a British couple who visited Dubai (United Arab Emirates) and got busted having sex on the beach, which is probably going to lead to a lengthy jail term.
Now I also found a linked article on the drug laws in Dubai.

The drug laws can be called nothing short of ridiculous, with a man having been arrested and imprisoned for years for 0.003 grams of cannabis stuck to his shoe tread. (obviously primo one hit shit)

Now because this city is becoming a hotspot for tourists, I felt I should come onto hipforums just in case anyone here knows anyone heading to Dubai.
Warn your fellow stoners! Or at the very least have a shocked chuckle at these truly ridiculous laws.

Dubai has all the new technology but it has no culture. Old cities like NYC, London England and Paris France all have culture since they have been around so long and experienced so much...but Dubai sprung up in the last 20 years and there is nothing to it but money. That is absolutely ridiculous that he was jailed for that...it just goes to show how stupid our society is.

 

Lets let them get it all built up, then go try to take it over too, except this time it won't be about pride or oil, just kick ass balcony views.

 

Even worse: A guy had a roll before his plane boarded; got a multi-decade drug arrest for the three poppy seeds that were found in his shirt pocket.

 

You could always take acid...

 

I've been to Dubai twice, it's a really nice place but there's so much racial inequality there it's insane.

Also, the minimum punishment for possession of drugs is 4 years in jail.
If you go I'd advise just taking a little break from drugs while you're there.

 

It wasn't on my list to visit in the first place. Indeed, cultureless. And yeah, too expensive of course
