by an old crush/ex's name indicate that you still have feelings for the old crush/ex?

My boyfriend called me by her name last night, and it was like a punch to the gut. To be fair, we WERE talking about her at the time, cuz she just quit the store she worked at, and he has been ignoring her to hang out with me all the time. She texts him and he ignores it, one time in the middle of a call he hung up on her...

But I just wanna know what you guys think...does it indicate some sort of subconscious longing or was it just a brain fart? Have you ever done this? Why?

i'd say it could be a bad sign, or it could mean nothing. i don't think that one incident is really enough to base a theory on. but then what the fuck do i know about this?

It's even worse if your boyfriend accidentally calls you a male name, such as Fred. Then you really have to wonder what he was doing before he started dating you.

Well, I really wouldn't have to wonder what he was doing before, that would kinda make it obvious:

    Men.

    He was doing men.

I think it depends, like if you spend a few years with someone, you get so used to saying peoples names out of habit that sometimes when your not totally focused on what your talking about or who your talking to, you mix up names purley by accident and it means nothing.
I wouldnt let it bother you too much Rachel, although it definitley is a shitty feeling. I've had it happen to me a few times by 2 girls, and at first I got upset but then I realized it was just me feeling insecure about myself.
I mean damn, I even called my own son by my brothers name yesterday, and sometimes I catch myself about to call Aura by my sisters name, or my moms name, and I've called my brother my sons name lol, like when Im frustrated at something and say something realy quick, I mix names up pretty often

yeah, i'm the same way, its embarassing sometimes

i think it would be a litttle different, but i don't know haha

i'd be irritated, but i dont think i'd dwell on it. unless it was obvious they really DID still have feelings for the other person....

either way, its hard to get over heartbreak, and having feelings for another person doesnt mean their feelings for you aren't stronger!

Not really because you guys WERE JUST talking about her and people do that all the time. now I'd be worried if he called you her name about 3 times now lol or in bed

I use to do it all the time with this one guy because I broke up with a guy named Max and then the other was named Matt so it got a little confusing when i use to get mad at matt and yell out MAX! on accident.

but it could be bad if he says it all the time :?

I was with my boyfriend for two years, and then I moved pretty quickly into a new relationship, and it took about a month for me to stop almost-calling my new boyfriend by the ex's name. I never actually said it out loud, I always managed to catch myself. I was just so used to saying the other name, and I have the same kind of feelings for the new guy that I used to have for the ex, I just considered it a brain fart.

I wouldn't worry, I've almost done that to Brad. Mainly when he was doing something Shawn used to do, like when we were fighting because I hardly fight fight with Brad, but my whole relationship with Shawn was pretty much a fight.

hmm. smelly socks. it may mean something and it may not. there really is no way for us to tell. but. what does it really matter? your relationship with him is finite, so enjoy it while it lasts. do not fret about these types of things. even if it does mean he still has feelings for her. all of our heads are filled with longing and desire. that doesn't mean we can't enjoy to the fullest potential, all potential relationships. who cares what he's calling you as long as he's calling you.

there are two names that I call new broads inevitably. both are names of broads i love and would marry if either were single or still loved me.

You need to let it go. I mean he was talkign about her. If it was while you were having sex it would be different.
Just guilt him and make him buy you something pretty and then let it be over. Being mad at him won't get you anywhere-guilting him for presents will.
