It's a big state so pick a region first some parts are more expensive to get to than others

Look into the Alaska state ferry you can camp on the back deck and bring some of your own food

That's really similar to how I feel.
I used to travel for work a lot and it gave me quite the xanax tolerance. Then I started taking it before my presentations during the trip and that's where I screwed myself. But hey-at least I don't have to fly anymore!
What part of CA do you want to visit?

Ahhh nope. I've seen lots of pictures, though. :)

I've done a fair bit of scrambling, and I do a lot of climbing, but my alpine experience is pretty limited (I've bagged a couple, though). Denali would be out of my league without commercial guiding.

Were you planning on doing it self-guided?

i have no idea. that ferry thing seems like such a cool idea! im thinking mabe summer next year and while im in alaska, ill make it down to cali and check out the west coast music fests. i will save and save and save so i can do this.

i think ill do self guiding (less money) but i will no doubt pick up some info on places to see. i wonder if my car can make it to the west coast...
