I was always wondering a bit about an aspect einstien's special relativity theory. That the closer you get to the speed of light, the slower time goes for that person. If that's true would that be the same effect all the time, no matter how quickly we're going?

Even if we're going .0000001% the speed of light, is time still slowing down for us on a .0000001% scale?

and if that's the case, could you theoretically achieve immorality if you always traveled the speed of light?

Barring health concerns, is that why people who sit around and are not physically active, moving around doing things, tend to live shorter life spans?

Perhaps it would only be immortality in comparison with those who were moving slower than you. As for you, your own time, as in the time of your body would still be going, and you would be aging still at your own rate to your own accord...

Ooh heres an idea too. What do you think about this.
The denser the object the slower it's time in comparison with less denser objects who's own time is faster.

    I am with stalk.

If time does not exist there would be variables in the illusion of the past.

Time is not physical or mental. It is just time.

Because of physics you can know what happens next
    therefor proving there is future.

I can never put my thoughts on paper... When I
come up with a better written explanation I'll post.

if time moves to your own accord it might be the
    cause of humans aging differentials.

But there isnt a constant to compare the
differentials so technically there are none.

You can never know what happens next. You can only predict what might happen next based on what there is now.

    now now now.

It's all about the now. :)

it's all about everything, now is just a point along an extremely vast spectrum, neodude.

it's not linear, either. How come I've had dreams of things that later turn out to be true?

The future leaks in...the past is always changing.

I read all 11 pages of this thread yesterday, and today at work I somehow made my 8 hour day go by in what seemed like 2. I love time.

because everything is simultaneously occuring in this same moment, you just aren't currently aware of it all.

I was w/ you all the way, Stalk, until the last thing in that quote - the past changing. ??

To me, the unchanging past (tho' my Perceptions of the past may change), the facts that remain From the past - people, objects, remembered deaths, etc. - prove that time is real.
Time as the 4th dimension makes sense to me.
ALL being now, time being an illusion doesn't make sense - I've gone through too much shit over too long a period of Time for it to be illusion. imho:)

I can not distinguish between dreams and reality.
I can't remember what really happened to me in the past.
My life is strange, that's my whack opinion.
I know it makes absolutely no sense to you.. ;)

No need to follow me...I'm going nowhere!

I have memories that I'll never know really happened or not. Very interesting... Plus, don't take me so seriously...my words are poetic, not scientific...
    I write to spark thoughts...
    not to implement them.

    It's up to you.

    The past is not real.

past people, objects, remembered deaths, do not prove that time is real, they only prove that you have mental constructs and projections of a past event that you experienced.

The tricky part is that it didn't happen in the past. ;)
